It would be great if the resorts offered a free towel animal making class. Great way to spend 30mins.
I was also told by a GM that the towel animals were not to be taken.
Well at Disney there is policy and there is what is enforced, and they are not the same. Policy from the General Manager's office is No, they are not to be taken home.
However if a guest asks they are not going to tell them No.
People claim to have asked and been told yes.
IMHO if you take the towels at the Holiday Inn then take the Disney towels. It's the same concept. Just beacuase they made them into towel animals doesn't change the fact that they are hotel towels.
Some people take the little bottles of shampoo![]()
I figure that the housekeeper knows whether or not they are to be taken home. She made it for us, she should know the policy. I doubt that if I asked if I could take the pillow home, I would be told yes.I never told anybody to ask the hotel manager - of course he/she has better things to do. But if you need an answer - if you need to take them and you need to know that it isn't stealing, then the manager is probably the only person with the authority to answer that question.
Let me ask this - if a maid told you it was OK to take a regular towel home with you, would you believe that it was OK because the maid said so? What if she said you could take the pillows home with you - would that be OK? The answer is 'no' because the maid doesn't have the authority to tell you to take the pillows and a reasonable person wouldn't believe the maid had the authority to tell you to take the pillows. No, you wouldn't have to ask Michael Eisner because it is reasonable to believe that a hotel manager would have the authority to tell you to take them, even though they aren't actually his.
Yes, this is a ridiculous thread. But as long as we're interested in our little debate, why should anybody care if the issue is insignificant? I'd say that's getting a bit judgemental . . .
My issue is that I've been told by several resort managers that the towel animals are the resorts gift to the guest. If that guest is lucky enough to get a housekeeper that makes the towel animals they should feel free to take them home. I seriously doubt that management or housekeeping would have an issue with telling the guest that they would prefer the towel animals to stay in the room, that they are not to be taken home.Well at Disney there is policy and there is what is enforced, and they are not the same. Policy from the General Manager's office is No, they are not to be taken home.

Personally I would not want them and see them as decoration, just like the photos on the walls. Hopefully no one is taking them home.![]()

We just stayed at WL club and the very first day our mousekeeper placed little duck towel animals holding our toothbrushes (there were 4 of us) the next day we saw our mousekeeper and she asked my 2 DDs if they liked what she had left them and then she went on to tell them they can keep them and take them home, I then said are you sure she said yes that they were ours to keep
And I'd be willing to bet you left her a big fat tip. Now I'm not saying that maids ARE intentionally telling you to take things (that they have no right to give away) just to get a bigger tip out of you, but I am saying it is a possibilty. I mean, as long as we're continuing such an inane debate, we may as well acknowledge all possibilities.
