I just realised I have no clue on the rules at WDW.

I know you can take in snacks etc. as I read a lot of DISers who do so. But I am planning on making Bagels in the room and taking them to the parks on the days we do Rope Drop, as it'll be too early for us to eat before we leave so I figure we can tuck into our Bagels around 9 ot 10.

I'm guessing the bag checks are the same level of un-thorough as DLRP...

the people who check your bags don't care if you're carrying food...
they're looking for security contraband, not food..

i always have bagels in my backpack...plain ones, without anything on it (i'm afraid of it spoiling in the orlando heat)..

when my kids were younger i prepared several peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for them to eat in the parks....

the guys checking the bags don't care...

by the way, you're not supposed to bring food into the parks, but no one every bothered me about it..

They do look in every pocket of your bag, I resorted to a transparent water bag to make things quicker.

Years ago food was stopped from going in. The first time we went in 1996 we used to take a packed lunch, cheese sandwich and a banana but with the heat (even in Feb), they were not very attractive by the time lunch time came, plus with the bumping around in the bags.

I would say if you want to take anything take stuff that can be kept outside the fridge. Bacteria starts to breed at anything about 6 oC so you don't want to end up with food poisoning.
