Well, 2 of my guide books arrived today, not the one that was recommended, that is 'to follow'. Anyways, one of the books says that food and drink are not allowed to be taken into the park. Is this true? Do they police it effectively? I was banking on taking a supply of snacky type foods and plenty of water for us to drink...obviously we will eat our meals there, but snacks could work out WAY expensive.
Thanks in advance for any info....

Whilst this is the official declared policy you'll find that many families take in snacks, sandwiches etc.
At bag search I've not heard of anyone having their food taken from them :goodvibes

We wondered this the first time we went but we took bottles of water (which you can refill in the park at water fountains) and snacks ,crisps biscuits etc.
We had our bags searched everytime and nothing was ever said.
We fill up on a big breakfast eat a few snacks durring the day (and an ice cream!) which see's us through till a big proper meal in the eveing.

We've always taken in a few snacks and had no bother.:goodvibes

In October we werent searched at all

I had tonnes of drinks / snacks in a bag underneath my sons buggy, hidden with raincoats ;)

I had my Pom Potes, other snacks - no problem. Quite frankly, the searches I had were more cursory than WDW. They barely looked inside.

Excellent, thanks so much. My hubby insists I am more excited than our 3 year old (I am!) and I really am sorry for asking so many questions, but this little break has given me something positive to focus on which is helping my boring days at work fly by.

hiya,

something that i did while in i was there last week, i got some baby food storage pots, and at breakfast at the hotel put a few things in it, same for the juice, filled up a little bottle...was never stopped.

i do reccomend taking extra drinks for your hotel, - depends on facilities but me and sis were desperete for a cold drink and the coke was expensive in the hotel shop. and the mini bar...well dont even go there lol

otherwise never had any probs, tho we didnt get searched

The Relay was reasonable for sodas, if someone doesn't want to carry them from home.

I'd not personally take anything from the breakfast, there are quite a few items at the Relay you can pick up. I'd not been there in a while and was pleasantly surprised.

Relay is a sundry shop at the train station. The shop is common in Canada Asia and Europe.

we took our own cool bag in every day a few weeks ago packed with our own lunch, sandwiches, snacks, ice bags, drinks, flasks of tea, mugs and spoons etc and didnt have any of it took off us.

it was great to do our own thing and cut the cost.

What's Relay please?

It's a convenience store - you can walk to it from anywhere on property (it's right outside Downtown Disney). They have sodas, snacks, I think crouissants, sandwiches (not sure how good those are), magazines, etc. Very reasonable prices, not inflated for Disney.

I agree, the Relay is a really good little store selling snacks, drinks, biscuits and fruit etc. It is just inside the train station building adjacent to the Disney Village . The wine is very good value for money too! I would recommend taking a travel kettle as the Disney hotels dont have tea and coffee facilities in the rooms

:hourglass . 5 weeks and 5 days and counting!

I know somone said they took in a coolbag - but these are not allowed - we saw a family turned back to their car with one (it was quite big though). Coolboxes/hamper style things are definite no-nos too. There is a picnic spot between the carpark and disney park which is quite nice if you are going by car. Otherwise I had no problems with snacks, crisps, drinks etc in my bag. I think it's a question of amount/size/ whoever is on duty...

i was the one who mentioned a coolbag as we took ours in every day we were there but its not a hard hamper one, its a soft one with a zip all the way around it. they checked inside it on 2 days and still waved us through but didnt even bother looking inside it on the other 2 days we were there.

just to add, we stayed at the disneyland hotel, and we asked for a kettle and they bought it to our room..no charge aswell

we did bring our own tea, hot choc and milk b(those ones you get in cafes etc) that did us well
