Ok, I'm down to 10 days before the cruise and I am getting full of more questions. :jumping3: Also, since my DH is finally getting interested..... He hates to plan! :headache: If we take beer or alcohol on to the ship, is there any problem with taking the drinks around into other areas? :drinking1 Also, do they sell can or bottle beer on the ship?

I read on this board that you can order wine glasses from room service to enjoy the wine you bring on board.

on our cruise I did take a glass of wine into the dining room with me, much to my DH horror -- I figured I'm allowed to bring it on board and I was not going to go dump it somewhere b/c I wasn't finished as I walked into the restaraunt. I finished it at the table and nothing was said to me from any server. If I have a glass of wine in hand how would they know if I had purchased it at a bar or brought it from my room?

I know there was draft beer, sorry I can't tell you on bottled beer or not, we didn't hit a nighclub or bar

Ahh, an interesting subject!!

We, as have others have taken some "special" bottles of wine on board and consumed it with meals, or just for the heck of it. If you take a bottle to dinner they will charge you a corking fee of $15. They have some pretty good wine packages if your interested that might suit you. I enjoy beer, but with a good dinner, it makes more sense to have a good wine, but that is just me.

To be honest, we did on a couple of occasions open a bottle prior to dinner and then took what was left in our glasses to dinner.

Some folks have even been known to take their own carafes  to dinner with something special. But then again, it was a VERY special Carafe!!

We always bring wine on board. Some is to drink on the verandah, and other bottles are for drinking in the dining room.

Ironically, we have not been charged corkage on any of our Wonder cruises. However, on the Magic we were charged a fee both times. I don't think that necessarily indicates a pattern, as my guess it is up to the descretion of the servers.

I think I know this guy. Yes, you can bring wine on the ship and yes you can take it with you, whereever you want. I have been known to bring 26 bottles of wine, not all for me, on one cruise. Several were for people posting on this thread.

You can take wine into the dinners and there will be no questions. In fact, you can take a glass (very large) with wine and than a smaller one for Port. Can't have the same wine with desert. No questions asked.

In fact, I would recommend you take a plastic wine glass with you as it works best in the Rain Forest.

TinksDad and WDWLVR, happy now? Some stories will never die. That was a great cruise!! :grouphug: :jumping4: :jumping4:

On a couple of occasions? Come on! Wasn't that you at the Desert Buffet who had a whole bottle of Banfi with him? :cool1: :cool1:

Very happy to share good times with friends - must be why we are going on the double scoop cruise!

Who me???

well, maybe a small bottle......

Getting back to the OP's questions...
I cannot remember if beer was served in bottles. I did take cans of beer that I had brought onboard into Diversions to watch a ball game. I alternated ordering from the bar and drinking my own. Nobody said anything to me. I didn't take any beer into dinner with me, so I can't help with that. I would also like to hear others answer your original questions.

We are getting a bottle of wine in our basket from Shirley to celebrate our wedding renewal and she is also putting a opener in so we don't have to pay the corkage fee.

They do have bottles and I think some cans of beer in the sports bar Diversions. They also sell draft there. They have a couple really fun beer tasting programs during the week, too.

Actually the corkage fee is not really to "open" the bottle....it is sort of DCL's way of charging you for bringing your own bottle of wine to the dinner table. As another poster said, sometimes you will not be charged and it is mainly at the discretion of the servers.

We have brought glasses of wine into dinner from our room, but never the bottle. No charges to bring your own glass of wine ine.

If you are taking wine or other drink from your room into the Walt Theater, be fore warned, the glasses from your room won't fit into the armrest drink hole. The glass is just a little to big!

Hmmm....Banfi + dessert buffet any chance it was a bottle of Rosa Regale my favorite. Ohhh and if it was truly a small bottle your busted as they only sold the regular size on my last cruise and if i catch you i can be bribed....cost one glass.

For anyone who has brought wine on board, how did you bring it on? Did you just carry it on? Do they limit how much or how big your carry on can be?

Thanks

I had two bottles, wrapped in bubble-wrap, in my carryon, along with a travel corkscrew. I carried the bag onto the plane and onto the ship.

DCL asks passengers not to put liquids in checked luggage.

I am not aware of any limit...I never heard of one. We brought 7 bottles on in our carry-on luggage. In fact, our carry-on bag consisted of wine and bathing suits. LOL.
