We took our 2 kids out of school last year and plan on doing it again this year. They will miss 8 days due to the vacation. This past year our son's 3rd grade teacher who has been teaching for over 25 years...said "he will get more from being with his family in Disney than I can ever hope to teach him...go and have fun!" He had to do a daily journal and make up his work. Lucky for us we arived back home just before Thanksgiving. He had just enough time back at school to get back into the routine, pick up all his work and then he was off for THanksgiving.
One tip that I did get was to give the teacher a folder with your childs name written on the outside. This way as they hand out worksheets, etc they can simply stick one in the folder. Another tip is to let the teacher know well in advance and make sure they know that you don't expect the work up-front...alot of times teachers don't have the work prepared until the week they give it out.
