taking CC threw pay pal Newbie question

I am reading that e-bay selling do not want to take CC threw pay pal and was wondering WHY?

I want to start selling off stuff on e-bay and go threw pay pal.

Not sure what you mean, as I sell through Ebay and accept credit cards through Pay Pal with no problem. Ebay owns Pay Pal, so the integration is seemless. Sellers seem to really like using Pay Pal. Since I started offering it, I don't think I've ever gotten a money order. Some people even use it to transfer money from their checking accounts to make a payment.

There are two different types of PayPal accounts: personal & premiere (I think that's what they're called). I've been away from eBay for a bit, so be patient!

The free account allows you to transfer funds via e-check (send or receive). I believe you also can pay via credit card or debit card (requires Visa or MC symbol on the debit card).

If you want to receive funds via credit card or debit card, you must open a premiere account, which charges a fee for all transactions, including e-checks. You can have two separate PayPal accounts linked to two separate bank accounts, and have one that accepts only e-checks, and the other accepting only debit and credit cards. That minimizes your fees slightly.

There is an excellent tutorial on PayPal on the eBay site. Take a few minutes to read it. It will explain the differences between the accounts and the fee structure for the premiere account.

Premiere must be what I have...didn't even realize there was a difference! I know that I pay a fee, but it's been worth it because it seems to attract more buyers now that I offer Paypal. I sell my planners are a Buy It Now price, so I can figure in the fee on those...for pins and other things that I sell via a regular auction, buyers seem to prefer it because that's how they always pay.

The fee is higher for a premier acct. In my opinion it's worth it, if you sell a a lot. Some people actual have two accounts so they don't have to pay the higher fee, I think I would be too confused with two.
