Orthodontists are EVIL!!! I got my braces in my 3rd year of university and the ortho said i'd have them for a year and a half.... off just in time to smile for graduation. Anyway, after 6 months he kept saying "another year and a half" and after a year it was "another year and a half" and so on. I started getting pretty mad and said "well, I'd REALLY like to smile for my grad pictures." and the ortho says "well dear, i dont' take brackets off for high school graduation" (THE NERVE!!!!! I look young but not THAT young!) Anyway. My last appointment before my grad pictures i went in there pouting and he offered to take the top brackets off for the picture then put them back on a week later (had a lingual retainer in the meantime). He said this would be his grad gift to me. Anyway, long story short. There was no way i was letting him put those terrible things back on. I had big shiney teeth and loved it. I had the bottom braces for another few months so i actually got the thrill of having slimey teeth twice!

BTW, if i knew going into this whole thing that they take the brackets off with pliers, by twisting until the cement cracked, i never would have let them put em on in the first place.... and that drill, yuck!!!!!

well i went to the dentist and they said that i need braces and so i got them and i had them on for five years and they hurt really badwhen they titen them and if you wish you could have braces say no you dont want them they hurt for two weeks and after 6 months you can almost eat enything after a year you can eat enything and if you ask the dentist to put you to sleep when they put your braces on they will say no they say you got to handle the pain and they say it dosent hurt but it really does hurt and when you get them of it realy hurts bc your teeth are usto the braces and they get los when they take them off and theres lots of things that you have to do when you get braces you have to floss your teet evryday and you have to brush your teeth when your done a meal cause the food gets stuck in your teeth.and the bad thing is you cant chew gum and cant eat candy so it really suckes to have braces and to me after they took my braces of they said i need them when im twenty

I get mind off on Monday and Im more than just a little nervous!



I will be SO glad to get rid of these things but Im so glad for what they did for me I am like this already.



on a similar note, how is the retainer? I have a gag reflex "issue" and Im concerned about the thing on the roof of my mouth.

It went fine! It is a little uncomfortable, but no big deal. You will be too excited to get them off to let it bother you much.
As for the retainer, they have to make it still. I get mine on Monday.

I have the clear ones on top so they arent terrible but they drive me crazy!
