Taking a Taxi to Downtown Disney

For our upcoming trip, we have booked the DVC event at Splitsville for 5pm. To maximize our time in the parks, I was thinking of catching a taxi from the Boardwalk to Downtown Disney after spending the day at Epcot.

I know that parking is a mess right now at Downtown Disney. How is it for taxi drop off? Any idea how much time we should allow to get there? I am envisioning being stuck in heavy traffic, watching the meter increase while we are at a standstill.

Does anyone have any insight into how this would work? Any idea as to cost of the taxi? I am thinking a one way trip only. We can wait for the bus to take us home.

We took a taxi to DTD at Christmas, when things were crazy, and again a couple months ago. Allow some extra time, maybe 10 minutes over your usual estimate, and be really clear with the driver about where you want to be dropped off, or they'll pick the closest taxi stand. There are definitely taxi stands where they can drop off near Raglan Road and near Cirque Du Soleil. I think there's one over by World of Disney as well, but we didn't take a cab there. You'll probably want the one by Cirque; it's closer to Splitsville and it's closer to Boardwalk.

Bottom line is it's doable and if you allow yourself some cushion it should work fine.

Its a very easy thing to do. Just walk over to Beach Club (which is slightly shorter that walking to BW, but either would do) and out to their Porte Cochere. They will hail a taxi for you and you'll be on your way to DTD. The Taxi will drop you on whichever side of DTD you want to go to. It will probably cost ~$15 plus tip.
