We just had our first LO and I'm ready to take her to WDW! Well, maybe not right away, but I thought maybe for her second birthday. My SO disagreed with me saying two was too small; he thinks our DD ought to be four or five!

So I was wondering, when did you first take your LO to WDW? Did they enjoy it? Did you? Would you take them at that age again, or would you go earlier or later, in hindsight?

DS was 17mo his 1st visit - oldest DD was 15mo her first visit. ADOREABLE ages - toddlers are too precious with the characters. I know my kids don't have the memories but I sure do. Those trips mark, hands down, my most memorable/sentimental disney memories :cloud9:
Oh and of course we have the stories and pics to share with them - my kids love to hear about when they were tots!

We went when DD was 22 months. Nice because she was free and we had dining so she could just share our meals.

I would absolutely, without a doubt, go again at that age!!! It was so adorable to watch her with the princesses (we had started watching Disney movies before so she would know them). And because of all the pictures we took, and how much we talk about it, she still remembers (but it's been less than a year, and we've been back, lol).

I kinda feel like she "grew up" over the trip, too. Became a little more confident, independent, etc. LOL!

Just head back to the resort at lunch time for food and a nap, and you'll all be good to go for the evening. Two is a great age to go!!!

Just took my 2 year old and she LOVED it. She knew all the songs and a lot of the movies, so that helped a lot, but I've had Disney pandora stations playing for her since birth....training ;) We had the most amazing time. And we've been back for over a month and she still talks about it every day-she remembers SO much more than I ever even thought she would.

I took my twins at 15 m and they had a great time. They loved a lot of the rides, even! My son loved characters and gave pooh a big hug. My daughter was nervous so we didn't push it. We are going again in dec and they'll be 2.5, and I can't wait! They're a great age (and they're free!!)

My DD was 3 years old the first time she went to WDW. My son was 3 months old his first trip. Of course my son doesn't remember the trip (when he was 3 months old) but he has been to WDW almost every year since he was born. Lots of wonderful memories. Every age is great for a Disney vacation :)

My son was 10 months.

I'd absolutely do it again (assuming a baby with a good temperament). Again at about 2, 4, 5 and 6. 3 was the bad year which was why we skipped it.

My personal philosophy with my son was that I wanted to start taking him places early so that he would always be a good traveller. And he is an AWESOME traveller. He's probably spent more nights in hotel rooms than your average 6 year old and he is well behaved and knows "hotel rules." Granted, he's a kid and he forgets to be quiet sometimes, but we travelled with a friend and her kids who had stayed in hotels maybe twice ever and BOY was there a difference!!

And yes, the first trip was more for me than him, but he had a good time. Some of my favorite pictures EVER of him are from that trip (and the second) and he loves looking back at pictures.

OP and others, thanks for posting. We are going for the first time in November. DS turns 3 in late December. This thread was very reassuring!

If we could have afforded to do Disney when our oldest was 2 it would have been great ;) (although when she turned 2 we had a 4 month old...so you never know what the next 2 years will hold, #2 wasn't planned LOL) I'd say anytime before 2.5...I find temper tantrums increase at that point and they don't 'travel' as well. Younger kids have an easier time falling asleep in the stroller and sleeping through just about anything, and I personally would rather bring a toddler in diapers somewhere than a newly potty trained toddler. She is free until she is 3 so take advantage!

DD was 13 Months and DS was 6. DD has always had a cheerful disposition so she was an angel the entire week visit.

DS was not quite 2.5 for his first visit. It was great and so much fun! We heard many naysayers "He won't even remember it" but honestly if we lived by that theory we would have done nothing for three years. Yes, he won't remember it when he is an adult but we sure will and that is good enough for me :)

I guess my question is - "Do you plan on taking any vacations anywhere or not go anywhere until baby is 5?"

I like my vacations and we usually go somewhere a week every year. What better place to take a vacation then to Disney as it is so kid friendly. So, when the kids were little we went to Disney quite a bit. (First trip DS was 11 months). Disney is great for any age. If you are going to travel anyway then this is perfect place at age 2.

Kids are 15 and 13 now and prefer cruising, so that is where we vacation most now.

We first took our girls when they were 3 and 5. We always said that "we should have taken them sooner". :goodvibes

Now, we are getting our chance as our annual trip in April will include what will be our then 3 month old son!!! I think there will be an added planning element due to having an infant on board, however, we are more excited than worried about it!

We have taken DS 4 to 5 times a year since he was born. He was 13 weeks old for his first visit. We live 2.5 away and are annual pass holders (even before having him) so we try to go as often as possible. I would say the hardest trip was when he was 9 months old and that's only because it was hot and he had to be carried! LOL! DS is 4 now and can pretty much guide you in the park and loves to talk about his favorite rides. I don't regret a single trip we've taken to WDW so far and would do it all other again.

We are taking ours for the first time in Nov. Ages 10, 7, 5, and 15 months. I would have gone earlier if we could.

Took our first at 20 months, then two years later took our twins at 11 months. It's challenging, but we were happy we did it!

We took my oldest for the first time at 2.5 years old..My youngest went for the first time at 18 months. Both were great ages and I would totally do it again that way if we ever had another little one.

We didn't travel anywhere with ours until they hit 4. First trip to Disney, oldest was 11, youngest 6 (almost 7).

6 was really nice. Still very "magical", but she was able to ride everything she wanted to ride. And no strollers!!! :cool1:

We took my oldest DS at 6 mo old! And we will be taking an 8 mo old with us in a couple of weeks. Disney is very baby friendly. I know my baby won't remember, but it will be magical for us! (And hey that means we will just have to return again when he is older! ;))
