I am wondering - is it OK to take a small dorm freezer with us to POP and POR? I know there is a fridge but we like to freeze water bottles and ice packs. Just wondering if this is allowed or not?

Back before the value resorts had mini fridges in all the rooms we brought one along. No one said anything. I don't see why the freezer would be any different

ditto - we brought a dorm fridge for at least 6 trips before they installed them in the values (then we sold the fridge on CL :) ) I can't imagine bringing a freezer would be a problem.

Don't most rooms have a small fridge with a freezer large enough to accommodate water bottles? Besides, i read it's not good to freeze water bottles due to some toxin in the plastic.I think it's called Diox something or other..

Given today's announcement about the in-room refrigerators (see link in PP), I'm thinking that Disney is not going to be too open to the idea of people bringing their own freezers or refrigerators. I think that it is one thing to bring a small hot pot for heating water for tea, it's another thing to bring a medium-size appliance that is going to be constantly plugged in.

If the rumors are true that the reason Disney is pulling all of the refrigerators is because of a fire in the Grand Californian, then I don't see them allowing outside refrigerators. Those guest-owned fridges could pose a similar risk and liability.

We took our dorm size refrigerator/freezer and still would if we needed to.

Um yeah - now I 'll be bringing a dorm fridge and freezer. I will use them until disney tells me otherwise.

Doesn't out take like 12-24 hours to get a freezer down to the correct temperature and then you have to deal with any leakage after ou unplu it and put it in the car. I guess I'm of the mind that if you feel the need to bring major appliances on vacation you should just rent a condo. Way too much work for me but then again my idea of vacation doesn't include "cooking" in an hotel room.

Not really a big deal, we started doing this 15 years ago and did it once or twice every year until the refrigerators were added. Then we stopped. We always have our car in Florida anyway.
