Right, i am calling in the DIS experts because I am driving myself slightly mad trying to figure out if i have got a good balance, am showing him all the highlights and fun choices at WDW, with hopefully good food as well. So in your opinion, have i got my list right and what would your list be?

Just a little info for you, this is my 8th trip, this is OH first. I am 30 and he is 37, he will try just about anything to eat. We share a love of sushi, mexican and he is a big meat lover. We are doing dining plan but this shouldnt be a factor in the choices as i am going to be paying OOP for a couple. i think i am having the hardest time because i love trying new places and i only have 2 new ones on my list. But this trip is for him. So help me out if you can. Give me your list of top 5 restaurants you would take a newbie to, to give them the wdw eating experience.

I have:
Tusker House breakfast
Crystal Palace or cape may breakfast (help me choose, have crystal palace right now)
Ohana
Tokyo Dining
San Angel Inn
Boma
Raglan Road (have this, love it, but want to maybe switch to Paradiso 37 which is walk up only)
California Grill
Hollywood brown Derby (fantasmic package and only one I could get)

What a stellar lineup!

You have a character breakfast, a great adult option, and everything in between. The only tweak I'd make - and it certainly isn't a big deal - is that I *might* switch San Angel for another Epcot option (maybe Chefs? Or Biergarten, because of their show?)

Otherwise - I think you nailed it. Keep Raglan Road!

Looks like a great line up!

Tokyo dining, O'hana, Boma: all faves!

IF you were going to switch Crystal Palace, I would think Chef Mickey's perhaps as an option, unless you are staying at the Beach Club, or going to Epcot after...(Cape May is less expensive if paying OOP.)

Have a great time!:flower3:

Looks good for your tastes--here is my 2 cents: There are reviews of the Paradiso 37 on the board that are not flattering--newness and all. So I wouldn't chance that yet. San Angel :confused3 I'd suggest Le Cellier or Tuttos instead. At Brown Derby, steaks are fab; some of the other entrees just so-so. I was very disappointed in the Cobb Salad last trip.

Thanks guys, seems like generally i am on the right lines:goodvibes. think i will stick with Crystal Palace, it is a great buffet, and i have never rated Chef Mickeys much:confused3 San Angel i agree on, I did not really enjoy my dinner there but this is for a lunch and I sort of ended up here as process of elimination. Italy pasta seemed too heavy for august lunchtime, Chefs de france menu doesnt appeal, think Marrakesh only has entertainment later on, Biergarten doesnt appeal, nine dragons gets bad reviews, Rose and Crown..well we can eat that back home here;) Le Cellier..sorry guys its nice but i dont get the hype, however i could try for an ADR. Actually Akershaus i do like for the food, think its above average, just trying to imagine how OH would feel at a princess lunch:rotfl:

Thanks for the heads up about paradiso 37, i must have missed these reviews, the menu looks so good, so that is a real shame to hear.
Do ya know what? ..and keep this between us...i didnt like the cobb salad either, there was just too much of everything going on and it started to make me feel a little ill the more i ate, but ssshh, i will get mobbed;)

Thankyou for all your thoughts, and any more ideas/opinions gladly welcomed x

If you love sushi you should go to Caif Grill. Heard they have the best lady in the world that makes it.:thumbsup2 When I say world I don't mean just Disney. Our server told us WORLD!

And that is exactly why that ADR is on the list! I heard this too and i cant wait to see what she serves up for us, although I will not be repeating my last experience there. We were on the dining plan at the time when appetisers were included. our server, who was wonderful, recommended the sushi platter as we would get more for our money. Well the sushi was so good and so plentiful that i stuffed myself on that and by the time i got the pork tenderloin i could barely fit it in, never mind desert:guilty: So in a way my love for sushi ruined my overall california grill experience. this time i will be sure to have a small sushi appetiser, which should be easier as i will be paying OOP for it:cool1:

Have you tried Sci-Fi Dine-In Theatre at DHS? I find it a nice, cool, dark and quiet place to duck into, especially in heat of summertime. Fun experience eating there, and their burgers, onion rings and shakes are great for lunch. Have a wonderful birthday!

No, have never tried Sci-Fi, and nice to hear something positive about it:goodvibes It is on my list to do, if i wasnt stuck with Hollywood Brown derby this would be a good choice. Grrr Fantasmic choas:confused3

HAVE A MAGICAL TRIP :thumbsup2
Thankyou very much:hug:

Okay, here is my list of top five to take a first-timer (please note I haven't been to all of these myself though):

Crystal Palace - unless he is likely to hate a character meal
Hollywood Brown Derby - haven't been in ages but it used to be my favorite
Boma - or maybe Jiko if you are more interested in fine dining
Coral Reef - just like it
Le Cellier - I would definitely choose one of the countries; San Angel Inn is also pretty neat

Okay, that is it for the five. Depending on tastes, a dinner show might be nice too.

My Bff, her daughter and I are are going for the first time in August and we choose several (the highlighted ones) on your list -
the other ones not on you list we picked were Sci-Fi Drive In and Tony's both picked by the 13 year old :)
So... I HOPE they're good choices for a first timer!

Oh and I forgot we have Tepan Edo on our list too!
