My husband and I will be staying at the Wilderness Lodge for six nights in December and then moving over to the Boardwalk Inn for six more nights. We would love to go on one of the DVC tours while we are there, as we have been interested in possibly becoming members for some time now. Do both of those resorts offer tours? Do you have to make an appointment? Are the tours offered on a set schedule? Can anybody tell me what to expect if we do a tour? Also, how long should we allow for the tour? Thanks!

I believe all tours are done at the DVC sales center at the BW, or at the BCV. There are DVC staff all over WDW, including in the lobby of the WL, so you can ask there. It really isn't necessary to set up an appointment, and I think if you're interested they'll generally whisk you away in a DVC van to wherever they are showing models.

We did schedule an appointment when we decided to join...spoke on the phone with our guide and set up a time to go before leaving home. But I'm pretty sure that's not necessary. We called the general DVC sales number that comes with any sales materials (we had a video, I think...)

The only DVC "tour" is offered at the Welcome Center located on the BW near JellyRolls. You can make an appointment at any of the DVC kiosks in the parks or resorts. The tour consists of a movie, a tour of the models (including a virtual tour of HH and VB) and an opportunity to discuss membership with a vacation guide. It is all very low key and pressureless!

There is a model set up at the BCV, intended for members, but I'm sure you wouldn't be turned away from the model there. There is no "tour" at BCV however and the model at VWL no longer exists. There is a model of the VWL, BWV and BCV room decor at the Welcome Center.

DVC will provide transportation to/from the tour, if desired and they also provide child care while on the tour.

Enjoy!

IMO, you will be in your glory just walking through the atrium at VWL, as well as outside by the quite pool. It is truly a spectacular themed DVC resort.

Have Fun!

When we went down in Jan 2002 we had orignally planned on taking the DVC VB option which we would have had to take the "Tour" presentation to get the deal. But then we changed to OKW using points we rented from these boards.

We called our guide and told her the move and we still wanted to take the tour. So we made plans for it Wednesday morning, the van picked us up at OKW and delivered us to BW and the Welcome Center (skating across the boardwalk, as the sun had not got up high enough to get the FROST on the boardwalk). Afterwards we walked around to the YC and then along to BC then lunch at ESPN Club and back around to the welcome center. We got back to the welcome center and asked them to have the van take us to AK. we walked up to the front of BW and the van took us there.
