Taking a bump, what happens with luggage?

I'm leaving on a Wednesday from EWR and there is only one direct flight in the morning and one at night. There are several connectioning flights. I'm thinking they will probably overbook the morning flight and hence my question. I've been bumped in the past and gotten a free ticket out of it so I know it can be profitable last time I got $400 voucher and was able to take my Mom on vacation that Dec., to WDW of course. I'm using ME this trip (already got my tags :cool1: ), will they hold my luggage at the airport? What happens when your luggage goes ahead of you? Or will they put it in the truck and deliver to my resort? The last time I took a bump I only had a carry-on so it wasn't an issue. Anyone care to give me an educated guess? TIA :confused3

Lucky you! The last couple of times I've been bumped (always on Delta!!), I've gotten nothing -- not even a voucher for a cheap meal during all-day layovers. The last two times I was bumped, my luggage went on without me. I've just collected it from the office in the luggage return areas upon arrival at my destination.

If you have the ME tags on it they will probably hold them until you check in. Luggage will go on the first flight you were ticketed for.

How did they manage to bump youw ithout giving you anything?

Sometimes you will be passed over in favor of other volunteers if you have any checked luggage.

You should let Magical Express know you will be on a different flight if you are bumped.

I believe that if you ar Involuntarily bumped, especially if you have to stay overnight, the airline has to get back your luggage if you ask.
