Taking a break from some of the parks until new attractions?

Just wondering if other folks are planning not to visit one or more of the WDW parks until they get an overhaul or the projects that are coming are done.

We have an upcoming trip in August and we are splitting it between the two Universal parks and Magic Kingdom.

We are going to take a break from DAK to wait for Avatarland and the new light show at AK.

For DHS, we will probably put that on pause for a while too I think. I wish they would at least put a new show in there (like switch out BaTB).

We will probably head back to Epcot in 2016 for the Frozen ride to see that.

Anyone else have specific parks on hold for now?

For the foreseeable future for us, DHS, Epcot and AK do not exist to us. We are making a quick stop in June, but skipping the 3 filler parks.

We have no plans to skip any parks on our trip. We are planning on skipping next year but only because we've been so much lately and think that familiarity breeds contempt. We skip a year or two now and then before we get to that point.

But no, once we're there we can't stand to skip a park. And since we really disliked US when we tried it last year, there's nothing tempting us anyway.

We're going in Dec but mainly because 1) we will want some warm(er) sunny weather (fingers crossed); 2) the real destination is Universal and we're staying off Disney property for this part of the trip; and 3) we are using DVC points to spend some time at the resorts while we're in FL to enjoy the Christmas decorations. We'll probably get a one or two day hopper and visit a few parks but again, just to walk around, ride a few of the favs, and enjoy the decorations that time of year. It really isn't a "Disney parks" type of vacation, at all.

We're planning an extended Disney-centric trip in a few years to (hopefully) see some of the additions.

We are going in September but only getting a 1 day ticket might go to Universal for a few days. Hear that Disney???

We will still go as much as we can, it's our happy place.
Even as disappointed as we were in AK last time, we managed two full days there. We love it.

HS is a tougher sell for me but Fantasmic is my second fav show next to FOLK and I could watch both over and over.

That's the thing- even if there wasn't a single ride in AK or HS or Epcot- we love fotlk and Finding Nemo at AK, Fantasmic at HS and Illuminations at Epcot. With all the stories swirling about an Illuminations change, and it being my absolute favorite show, there's not a chance I'm missing it.

We even have it scheduled 3 times this trip- we'll be ending our vacation watching it because it may be the last time I ever see it. sniff...sniff....

No, we will not be skipping any parks in the near future. We continue to have a great time when we go. I think some of it is in your expectations and your attitude in how you approach your vacation. We are good.

I always get Park hoppers so it's not too big of a deal for me... But I really really really dislike Hollywood studios. I only go because I love tower of terror so much. I'm still not sure I want to even spend half a day there this trip, or just use my ToT fastpass and then leave for a better Park.

Not exactly on hold, but Avatarland or other new developments are the next milestone getting me to Disney. I'm not an AP holder and don't go annually. We've gone as newlyweds ,then once just before each of our children were 3 (and still free!) Last year, getting to Disney before my middle daughter turned 10 (and became a Disney adult $$) timed nicely with visiting New Fantasyland. I think Avatarland's opening might be in time to go just before my son turns 10, so that's the next major thing that will trigger our visit.

I've never skipped any park on a visit and even stayed longer at DHS this time than ever before due to Jedi Training, figuring out show times better than in the past, and my kids being interested in ToT, Rockin Roller Coaster and Star Tours.

Yes after IMHO, the total wreckage that is AK, I see it as a future skip park...

The safari was great, Tusker House awesome, but the gross feeling I get from "DinoLand" and the crazy construction walls EVERYWHERE! I'm pretty much done with it...

Your going to tell me what I should and shouldn't expect from Disney? and my attitude? That's my whole problem I haven't approached my vacations the right way. Keep your thoughts about others to yourself!

We went in late 2014, and SDMT was new for us.

Not going back until March 2016 and we're hoping there will be *something* new. Hard to know exactly what ....

We're pretty down on DHS and never found much use for AK, but we plan on trying AK in 2016. Again, hoping there will be something new ....

It's not just new "rides" we're interested in ... anything new: exhibits, shows, restaurants. It's all part of Disney for us.

We're going in November but it looks like we're skipping WDW in 2016 to do Universal in late fall. We want to check out the new Harry Potter area in the Studios and the new King Kong attraction at Islands of Adventure. We MAY take one day and go to Epcot just to do the Food & Wine Festival which we love. But 2016 for us will be a week at Universal staying at the Portofino Bay. The current state of WDW for us is pretty boring (we've done it all many times) and definitely not worth the expense till there are some new attractions.

Never. Going in September after a two year break and hitting all the parks and we can't wait. I'm also looking forward to Avatarland, but won't skip next year just because it isn't open yet. We really try to go every year if we can afford it. Life's too short to keep waiting for something new to come along. We always have an amazing time when we go...even at DHS.

Now Universal..that's a different story. I would normally skip it because I hate it and have no interest in going back until Kong/Skull Island opens.
But this trip we are doing 1 day with a 2-park pass because my 24 year old daughter is a Potter fanatic. If it wasn't for her joining us this trip I wouldn't go and have no desire to. But Kong...that I am looking forward to.

Illuminations might be changing?

Hoppers help. We don't buy them anymore because we rarely got the use out of them, but I can see how it would make it easier to visit rather than blowing a full-day ticket.
