Obviously, if all I'm sending down is food, snacks, etc I wouldn't have to ship anything home. But, for instance when we went in Sept. we had costumes for MNSSHP shipped down and extra shoes, hats. How do you go about sending a box home?

We did it wrong, because it didn't even occur to me that I wouldn't be able to fit all that stuff in my luggage to get it home until the day before we left. :guilty: I just repacked the box, took it to the desk and asked them to send it back Fedex, that was how we sent it down, price wasn't too bad, maybe $12. Well, I got the Fedex bill for shipment home it included an extra pickup fee from the resort and it had been picked up on a Saturday, extra charge for that too.....$43 to have it shipped home.:scared1:

Any recommendations?

Subscribing. I've also asked this question and got no replies. Everybody wanted to talk about shipping things to the resort, but nothing about shipping from the resort back home. I'm wondering if it's possible to leave it at the desk for a weekday pickup? If not, we're driving so I might just find a local UPS store in the Kissimmee area and go that route.

Wow! I had no idea it could cost that much to ship back. At this point I'm planning to send down toiletries and breakfast bars, throwing away what doesn't get used (it's just a solo trip and I'm taking partial containers, etc, so I don't intend to waste much). It must be more cost effective to toss the stuff rather than pay return shipping, anyway!!

If you're flying, have you thought about checking an empty suitcase? Or not filling them so full and leaving room for on the way home? I know on some trips, we've maxed out on the number of checked and carry-on bags. We were going for 9 days and we had so much baggage we couldn't fit it all on the luggage cart. :rotfl2:
We couldn't help overhearing people in the hotel lobby say to one another, "do you think they're staying for a month?" :lmao:
I just figure, it's more cost effective to pack it then have to buy it when we don't rent a car.
In Dec, I actually packed a Christmas tree w/ lights & orns, plus window decorations and the kids' favorite stuffed animals. I had a holiday Pooh Flag and all kinds of Decorations for 2 windows. I also have very very large suitcases, that helps a lot too.
I'm curious, why do people choose to ship instead of taking it w/ you? :confused3
Good Luck w/ your situation.

I guess my reason for shipping ahead of time was just what you described. :) I don't want to carry any more bags than necessary. I don't want to have a luggage cart full. I'm trying to minimize the amount of things we need to take with us to the airport. It's just a matter of preference. ;)

When we went in June 06 we sent home 2 large boxes( I cant find the weight amount anywhere). We had a car and my husband went to Staples or Office Max(he cant remember which one:confused3 ) The cost was $18.00. The boxes arrived about 4 days after we got home. I thought the cost was reasonable and it was not an inconvience at all. My husband ran the boxes to the store while the girls and I finished getting ready to leave. This way was much easier for us than bringing extra suitcases and having to deal with more things and 4 children. We are doing it again in July.:thumbsup2

I do understand what you're saying, but the scene I described happened prior to Magical Express. I won't go w/o a carry-on. I had a friend have to go on a cruise for their honeymoon w/ NO LUGGAGE because airline lost it and couldn't locate prior to ship's departure. In general, I have a hard time getting clothes to fit at just any store. So if I didn't have anything it would be very hard for me to just run to a store and buy replacement clothes. Now w/ Magical Express, we check our luggage at our home airport and just wait for it to arrive in our room. I've used ME 3x and never had a problem. Now all I have to deal w/ is carry-ons. But I do understand it's a preference and comfort level. ;)

Really curious about this as well. How much of your charge was for the Saturday pickup? We are leaving on a Tuesday, so I'm wondering how much we will get charged. I'm really not interested in carrying my electric frying pan back on the plane!

I traveled solo to WDW last September for the pin event. I did not have enough room in my luggage for all the things I bought. I could have had Disney ship my framed set home but I thought the price was a little high. I also had some other things that I needed to ship home. I took everything to a UPS store and had it shipped home. Someone sent me to the wrong shopping center at first so I'm not sure where the UPS store is. I think it was in the shopping center that is behind the Orlando Premium Outlets.
