Take-out from TS restaurants?

Does anyone know if you can order take-out from TS restaurants at Disney? My DS (2 yo) has severe food allergies, and we find that it is easier sometimes to eat in the room, but the rest of us would like to enjoy the Disney food!

I know Disney does a great job with food allergies, but he is at an age where he grabs everything on the table. So, it is just easier to eat in the room where I have more control.

We would like to take advantage of the dining plan, but want to be able to take the food back to our rooms.

Any information would be appreciated.

Thanks

My DH was wondering the same thing. He said (this was his only input lol) that he would like to have one afternoon that we just grab a meal and go eat in the room and relax, I was going to do this with CS, but it would be nice to bring "home" a nice TS meal, and recoop from an afternoon in the sun.

There was a thread about this not too long ago, if you do a search about "take out", you might find it. I believe the general concensus was that while some restaurants will do it, some don't like to. Now, I am sure if you pled your case to a CM, they might consider it for you more readily than they would otherwise. I know that one poster said they do take out from Le Cellier and get cheddar cheese soup and pretzel bread to eat while waiting for Illuminations, so there's one for sure. I would get there at an off time if you can. If the dining room is full, they will be concentrating on getting the food out to them, so you could be waiting quite a while or turned down. Good luck and let us know which ones end up doing it for you!

Just returned Jan 30th and was told that take out from the Brown Derby would no longer be allowed due to park guests taking leftovers or meals and getting sick from eating food that had been out in the heat&sun all day.

Ya know, I was wondering about that. I know that there are a lot of people out there who would take the leftovers and then not get them refridgerated fast enough. Like my mom. She lets stuff sit out forever! It really makes me nervous, but she's never gotten sick, so I guess she's either been lucky or has a cast iron stomach.

I know what you mean! I have friends who will leave lunch leftovers from a restaurant in the car all afternoon--in the summer--and then eat them the next day...COLD! EEwwww. I would be sick as a dog  I have a two hour rule. If I can't get it refridgerated within 2 hours I chunk it to the nearest trash can.

Back to topic--I actually posted two threads about the takeout issue in the past and it seems to be that many TS restaurants will do take-out if you ask the CM at the podium nicely and wait patiently they seem happy to do so. They are not equipped to do so on a mass basis but will usually accomodate. I seem to remember that Kona was one that will do so and I have a friend at Disney right now that said she would ask a few TS places while she is there so I am awaiting her report when she gets back in a few days. I'll post back when I tt her :teeth:

No offense to you, DVC Sadie, but.....my gripe is with WDW, not you.
(really DVC Sadie...please do not take offense to my soap box rant that follows, lol)

I wonder if next they will stop selling dairy and meat products?? Have fridge police to make sure our room fridge temp is up to par...wouldn't want anything spoiling now would we?? Better yet, maybe we shouldn't allow fridges at all...that'd make folks want to take home leftovers, OMG! Oh please Disney please :worship: ...save us from ourselves!!! What would we do if you didn't ban us from taking out our Brown Derby leftovers (yikes!!! gasp!!!!)

That is totally ridiculous!!!
If the OP wants to take her meal and enjoy it in her room with her family then so be it. She's paying for it, she should be able to enjoy it however she wants. Please Disney, gimme a break already!

(rant over :crazy2: )
Jennifer.

DeadheadJen, No offense taken :thumbsup2 I think that Disney got tired of getting blamed for food poisoning and possible lawsuits. Maybe it's just me but sometimes people need to use their common sense. I usually only request take out right before I leave the park so I could have a nice meal in my room later for dinner.

Thanks for asking her to do that!
I am going to call Disney and ask, but it will be nice to hear what the actual staff at the restaruants say as opposed to what Disney says when you call them.

Bad news...My friend just came back and she forgot to ask at all the restaurants except for Ohauna. She said she thought she asked the question properly but the matrie'd said to her "no, we can't call you in your room when your food is ready. We don't do that." She said she was quite puzzled at his response and thought.."I think we have a language barrier here" and moved on without trying to get him to understand the question. She said they were really busy and she didn't want to take up anymore of his time.

Oh well. I have one more shot. My next door neighbor is at Disney right now and will be home on Saturday. Maybe she had better luck :confused3
