i try to take some with us. if you are going to do this, i would definetly carry them on because the first time i packed them in my luggage, one of the bottles broke, and needless to say our clothes were a mess before the cruise ever started...
Cruise Docs state that no personal coolers are allowed onboard except for medications, baby food etc. These posts stated that you could bring a soft sided cooler (ours wheels) so I am confused as to whether or not to bring it. Could someone let me know?
Thanks! and allwdwfreaks, have a Great time and let us know how it is. We will be cruising on June 27th!!

I think mainly what DCL doesn't want are hard coolers made of styrofoam.
We wrapped our consumables in some bathrobes and then packed them in a box, and there was no problem. For hard liquor, you really only need to pack what you'll need until you hit your first non-US port, then purchase additional at the port, since it will be lots cheaper!
The small room fridge kept things sufficiently cold that we didn't need a cooler w/ice.
I bought, at the suggestion of a DIS poster, a cooler that folds flat to take on excursions with us. I'm packing champagne in our carry-on. I'll put bottles water in the BIG suitcase we have. Does anyone see a problem with this??????? Please advise.
I bought the collapsible cooler as well, but I'm planning on filling it up with bottled waters and a few juice drinks for our DDs and rolling it on board. I can't imagine they would have a problem with this and from what I've read from other DISers, DCL doesn't mind as long as there isn't too much alcohol. What was it?...one 6-pack of beer per adult carried on by hand. I even read that your Stateroom attendant will fill the cooler up with ice everyday.
We brought a rolling collapsible cooler with soft drinks and beer and rolled it on as a carry on. Our room steward even filled it with ice for us. You can take the canned drinks on deck with you.
They also came in handy when we did St Thomas on won own. I will bring it again next time but probably not as much.
We brought a collapsible cooler (filled with beer and ice) on board and put it right thru the scanner before boarding. No problem. I also saw a guy walking onboard carry a case of Bud. So the rule seems to be - "If you can carry it, bring it!"
I bought mine from Target but I know I've seen them at Costco as well. The cost was $25 and the size is about 13x14x12. Mine can be brought on the airplane as a carry on. What's really nice is the small wheels and telescoping handle. So, once we are done with it, it can be put away flat in our suitcase.
