Take CS Food to TS--Tacky???

I'm not really sure what difference it makes whether it's a burger joint or fine dining. About the only time I would do that is if it was a place where you placed your order at the window and then took the order to a table...kind of like counter service at WDW. But, if there is a server, waiting on your table, then no, it's nothing I would ever do.
My dd was incredibly picky, still is at 16. We have never brought something special for her into a restaurant. We did eat at a seafood place on Martha's Vineyard a few years ago, and bought her a hot dog across the street, but that was a place where you ordered your food and then went to an outside picnic table to eat.
But I have to agree...those sandwiches are terrific, aren't they?? I just love 'em. Can't wait to get one in Dec!!!

I would never bring outside food into a restaurant.

I think your best option is to eat your sandwich before entering the restaurant.

You'll need to eat the sandwich before going in because Health Regulations won't allow outside food to be brought into another food establishment.

First off, I don't think the ESPN club would give you permission in the first place. I don't think you'd be allowed, but lets say you snuck it in there, I think you'd feel awkward eating it.
Secondly, I think the fact that you're asking the question, tells me you do think it's tacky.

Why not get your sandwich and eat it first, while you hang out with your hubby on a bench by the lake, then go with your hubby to ESPN and order an appetizer or dessert to eat while your hubby eats lunch?

I think this is a great idea. You both get what you want and everything is a-ok.

You could do it. You might get away with it. The staff at ESPN probably isn't going to care and your fellow diners probably aren't going to care. None of that changes the fact that it is 100% a tacky thing to do.

I also totally agree with OP. If you were able to do it, I don't think you'd ruin anyone's experience except your own. I know I wouldn't feel comfortable doing it. We all do tacky things sometime or another, but it sounds like you are concerned, especially since you were thinking of asking ESPN permission. If it's going to cause an issue, I think kdnmom's idea is a great compromise.

I've actually brought subway into BK before when I was dieting so that hubby could eat his big mac!!!:rotfl: It's fast food for crying out loud! ;)

Totally agree. Are saying that at DTD is someone wanted Earl of Sanwich and someone else wanted Wolgang Pucks express that you wouldn't eat together at the same time? Call me crazy, but I would think it would be crazy not to.

Now as to the other issue - if I really had to choose (my personal choice would be to forgo the sandwich) I would take the sandwich into ESPN, after all you are likely never to see these people again - right? :rotfl:

If it's not something you would do at a restaurant at home, why would you consider doing it at WDW?

If it's tacky at home, it's tacky on vacation.

Ah-so that's the secret! It's alright to be a boor, provided there's no one there who knows you. Somehow, I think that word spreads anyway.

It's not something I would do. Couldn't you grab the sandwich, and eat it while walking around the boardwalk, then eat at ESPN? You could also eat it later in the hotel for a midnight snack. I guess the way I look at it is would you bring a sandwhich to a friend's dinner party? I wouldn't do it, but I doubt the ESPN would mind if you did.

Put me in the tacky camp. If you wouldn't be comfortable doing it at home, you probably won't be comfortable doing it anywhere.
But if the sandwich is that good that you are willing to go to these lengths for it, then I must try it! I'll check out the recipe too. Thanks for posting it.

Ooo, I like the midnight snack idea. Eat a "lighter" dinner with your DH at ESPN...then buy a sandwich for later. That way you both get to eat a meal together -- and you get a delicious midnight snack later. Yum!

Boor???? Harsh! Wonder what you'd call me if I put ESPN ketchup on my BB sandwich :scared1:

Terribly misguided-however, I'm not in the habit of watching other peoples eating habits, so I would probably miss it-I'm usually too busy stuffing my face to notice anything else!

my daughter only eats chicken at resturants and is pretty pickey about the kind of chicken there are acouple of resturants we like that don't have chicken that she will eat so we purchase her some chick fil a and bring it in w/ us... no one has ever said anything to us (of course this isn't at disney this is in our local home town) but it's also a little different when the issue involves a picky child w/ a over active gag reflex and a tendacy to puke if the food isn't to her liking..

Are you saying that bringing a sandwich into a sports bar is a boorish thing to do??? geeesh!

I have a hard time believing this one...What about people that bring in baby food and bottles for there babies??? The milk would be "outside" food...I don't buy the health regulation thing.

No way would I do that..instead I would eat my sandwich and have a drink at ESPN

What we did with our niece was have her eat at McDonalds and then we ate at Fultons while she colored and played with her toys....worked out great and she still had a drink and ate some bread.

Well, it is definitely whatever you feel comfortable with. I don't see a problem bringing in an outside sandwhich as long as you are going to order a drink/fries to go with it. I don't think that is tacky at all. After all your husband will be eating there too. My DD is picky and it is not uncommon for me and DH to eat at Taco Bell and bring her a Wendy's burger in. Also we eat a San Paublo's Mexican Restuarant and again we will bring her in a burger and we have never had anyone say anything to us. As long as your cordial to your server, don't start a food fight, vomit or start a fight it is really not that big of a deal!

Sorry, I have to say "tacky". I get the points brought up with kids and bringing food, but we're talking about adults, not kids. If you're worried that it's tacky and are asking on the boards, then I'm guessing you would probably be a little uncomfortable bringing it into the restaurant anyway. I don't think they would do anything to you (i.e. give you the boot!:lmao:), but that's just my opinion.

The sandwich sounds wonderful, by the way. I would totally eat it beforehand & enjoy!!

I think I would have different answers depending on which restaurant. Most of Disney's restaurants have food from a central location. I wouldn't think Disney would care if you brought food from another of their restaurants, since it all comes from the same source.

In this situation, ESPN may or may not be considered a "Disney" restaurant. I tend to think they are, so there should not be an issue. I wouldn't worry about it, although I love the late night snack idea as a great solution.

FYI - I'll be at the Boardwalk in February and now you are making me want to try the sandwich!
