We are going to DL in April for a conference. Please rate the hotel you think we should stay at- we have in our family, myself, DH, DS (4), DS (2). Feel free to add why you made your choice. We do like a kid's pool, be within walking distance to DL and the convention center, possibly see fireworks from the room, and have a frig (if possible a microwave too). That's the ideal but not necessary. Thanks!!

We liked the Hilton for the view, ask for upper level Disney view and you will be able to see fireworks. It was very pretty at night to see all the lights on Paradise pier area in DCA plus in distance could see Matterhorn.

They have kind of a small pool- roof top type but not many people were using it when we went. They do have FOUR hot tubs-- LARGE hot tubs on raised cement/tile diases -- Heavenly to soak after a long day at the park and no need to share with a big crowd of giggling teenage girls and macho teen boys :crowded: LOL

Convention center at the door step. ART to the park or walk to DL parking lot and take tram (didn't try tram). Walk is "Ok" for grown up legs but likely too far for little legs.

Pizza Hut in lobby of Marriot across the street - they make them fresh and have plates, napkins, and cheese packets- nice easy meal in hotel room.

Breakfast buffet in the Hilton was nice- ok price- OJ is on the buffet so don't order it - they will charge you extra.

Can't remember if we had a frig... Got as a Priceline bid for $45 a night a few years ago.

I'll start by saying I've only stayed at the DLH, but having been on these boards for awhile and staying there they get my vote. We loved it last april and are going again soon. I know I could stay cheaper off site, but I loved the resort feel, how we never really felt like we left disney. Also, the gounds were great, the pool cool, the room service good (great on a day the kid was napping and I needed food.) I considered off site for this upcoming trip, but decided we would go back to DLH. All depends on what you want. We vacation like this once a year and I want a nice resort......(the rest of the time we camp in a trailer....)

The other factor to me is the kid factor. In my 20's or early 30's without kids off site was fine, we spent all our time at the parks. Now that I have a small kid, (dd is 5 and 1/2) We actually spend time in our room and around the hotel, so the amenities are great.

What ever you decide, I am sure you will have a great trip....

I voted other!

Grand Californian with bunk beds would be ideal for the little ones. Four year old on bottom bunk and two year old on pull out trundle. Walk back for naps. You can request refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. Kiddie pool is near main pool. Request theme park view and you should be able to see the fireworks.

I'd pick the Candy Cane Inn so I chose other. The pool is nice, the breakfast is very good for a free breakfast, the rooms are nice and all of them have a fridge and the deluxe rooms have a microwave and free movies. It is within easy walking distance and they have a private shuttle if you (or your kids) are just too tired to walk. You can't see much in the way of fireworks from the rooms though....

rsschneck,

Can you really request a microwave? The first time we stayed there I asked but I was told no. I just never thaought to ask again on future visits. That would be really helpful since portion sizes are huge at some of the DTD restaurants and we always end taking leftovers back to the fridge in the room :flower:

If you are not staying on site, i voted for "Other"..i strongly suggest Marriott Residence Inn Garden Grove on Katella Blvd, about less than a mile from DL. I stayed there last year for 9 nights and it was excellent service..There was free breakfast served.(hot) as well as snacks served in the afternoon, and you have a full kitchen in room. The Staff was wonderful and the rooms were clean!!

:earsboy: The residence inn resort area was great ! The only place we ever want to stay . We were there in October and will stay there again in May. The kids suite has bunk beds and a kids bathroom . Oh and a vcr in the kids room!
Hot breakfast buffet and a friendly staff, something I was thrilled to find. They have a basketball court and basketballs at the front desk. There are 3 tv's in the kids suite and a couch and full kitchen. My's son's begged to go back there on our next trip.

If it's in your budget, no contest stay at DLH or GC!

If price is an object, stay across the street! If DLH wasn't on your list, I would have gone with "other", too, because we like the Desert Inn and Suites - parlor suite (room w/ a small living room 2 tvs) are relatively inexpensive, and the location is awesome.

I voted Disneyland Hotel. With kids, it's really great to stay on-site for those mid-day naps and pool breaks. But I would also suggest Candy Cane Inn (if you need a more budget choice).
