From the “If it sounds too good to be true, it is” file, anyone know what the fine print is for those offers they are playing on the radio for Tahiti Village in Las Vegas, offering 3/2 vacations for couples for free? There’s got to be a sizeable catch on that one… :confused3

I think the lodging is all that is "free" and it is a timeshare I believe. I have heard lots of commercials from different cities due to streaming audio and it is so funny that they are all exactly alike.

We just did this - my DH surprised me with the trip.

You don't stay at Tahiti Village, it was a choice of 3 hotels, we stayed at the Hilton which was very nice, it has the tram stop right at the hotel to take you to the strip by the other hotels. Our trip was 4 days 3 nights.

The hotel was free, we also got 2 passes for a comedy show. We also got $200 back on our airfare, that you have to mail in for.

We did the Tahiti Village Timeshare tour for about 2 hours, it was nice but not something we would do.

I always thought it was a scam, but my DH was listening to Tanya Roberts on the Howard Stern show talk about it and he called.

Hey GJM! Thanks for the info - I would love to surprise DH with this! Can you tell me how much you had to pay up front (besides airfare). Were there a lot of blackout dates? Was the timeshare a hard sell? I think I also read something on a different board that you could extend your stay another night if you mentioned their radio ad. This sounds so fun and I've always wanted to go to Vegas!

DH said there was not blackout dates, but a surcharge for going on a holiday weekend.

They charge $99 then when you go do the timeshare presentation they credit you the $99 - when we left the hotel we didn't owe anything.

I didn't think it was really a hard sell - the "closing salesperson" made a comment that we weren't even planning on buying - I would never just purchase something like that at the spur of the moment anyway. I just say "No"
