Staying at the Polynesian for the first time and wanted to ask a couple of questions. I think I'm going to request a room in the Tahiti building. What are the rooms like? Are there chairs on the beach to sit on? Can you hear the music from the MK fireworks? Are there any King beds there? Any room suggestions? I see that it does not look like a long walk to get to the TTC from there, but how long does it take to get to the main pool & GCH? Does the TTC also have bus service or just monorail & boat? If it has bus service, how early does it start? Any helpful hints would be great!!!

Can't answer all your questions but I know the Polynesian does not have any king beds in standard rooms. Maybe in the suites.

I think the bus service for the Polynesian is not at the TTC but closer to the GCH, but not 100% certain on that. I believe all busses start running 1 hour before opening but you might get a more accurate answer if you post on the Transportation Board as there is a bus driver who is a regular poster on that board.

The walk to the GCH from Tahiti is probably 5-7 minutes. The pix make the Polynesian look more spread out than it actually is.

I think any room in Tahiti would be great as all floors have balconies or a patio.

I don't think you can hear the music from the fireworks - someone may be able to correct me on that - but you for sure can see them.

I love the Tahiti building. It is very close to the TTC so you can hop on the Epcot monorail easily. Also the ferry boat to MK is not a bad walk. It is really close to the quiet pool, and not a bad stroll over to the GCH and the big pool. It is our favorite building. We had a lagoon view last time, ground floor. I enjoyed the ground floor patio so we could just walk out onto the beach. The ducks were cool, but got kind've agressive about wanting whatever we were eating, they even would have come in the room haha. I think the "view" would have been alittle better from higher up, but I was happy on the ground floor. I can't recall if I could hear music, but I could defnitely see the castle and if there had been fireworks while we were there we would have had a perfect view.

ENJOY your stay !!!:D

My brother and his family used to live in Irmo. Both of my nieces graduated from Irmo HS. They lived on Coldstream Drive, but moved up here about 6 years ago.. Real nice area, I loved visiting down there. Going over to Charleston always reminded me of going to Cape Cod here, the trees and sand are similar.

The rooms in Tahiti look about the same as all the rooms but they are slightly larger and have two sinks in the bathroom. The building has larger hallways and sitting areas. There are chairs (covered and not covered) on the beach and Tahiti has its own beach in front of the longhouse. They have the music from the fireworks piped into the Polynesian beach. There are no king beds in any of the longhouses other than the suites. The walk to the TTC is short and to get to the pool you just walk the path along the beach and it will take you about 2 minutes.

Thanks everyone!!! Am getting so excited about staying here!!! Are the tv's vcr capable? What I mean is can you bring your own from home and hook it into the tv in your room? One more question. Do the sliding glass doors have screens you can slide to let air in but bugs out or is it just open?

No screens and I believe the tv will accept a VCR but why would you be using one on vacation? Just curious. I am too busy when I am at WDW to be watching movies.

Vcr is the only way my toddlers will go to bed. Can't miss their favorite bedtime videos.

We stayed in room 1036 in the Tahiti building last January. It was awesome. Right outside the sliding glass door was the beach with hammock and chairs. There were also chairs on the balcony you could take to the beach.

It was a little bit of a walk to the Monorail and the GCH but who cares. It was a great walk with all the scenery. The boat launch was a short walk also.

The room itself was also fantastic. Nice and big with plenty of room for the kids to unwind after a day in the park. The ONLY thing I didn't like was the room was always humid. Even after using the control on the wall. But you get used to it.

Don't think there are screens and don't think you can hear the music but you will definitely get a good show of the fireworks.

My 8 y/o kids watch a "quiet time movie" everynight before they go to bed so I know what you mean about getting them to wind down. But at Disney it was not a problem. They were so tired after walking all day. And if that doesn't work there is the Disney Channel and Toon Disney to watch and if THAT doesn't work there are bedtime stories on the TV.

I have some pics on my Disney page below if you wanna take a look.

Good luck.

Just booked the Poly for May. YEEHAA

I'll definitely request Tahiti building. Sounds awesome.

I'm so excited, I can hardly stand it. I thought I was excited about staying concierge at AKL, but adding the poly for 4 nights is almost too much to stand.

Now I have to wait for May. Oh God, I'll never make it.

thanks everyone for the wonderful report on the Tahiti. my FH and I will be off to WDW in 24 days....:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc we have requested a room at either Tahiti or Tokelau.

just a question about the beach at Tahiti. is there a little path to go down to the beach? can everyone go to the beach?

thanks.
