Tagliarchy Island

At a recent college reunion, there were some who had "come out" and we were like, oh, right, like we didn't know. They said they were afraid we wouldn't have accepted them back then and were surprised we knew (or greatly suspected) all along. ;) Just goes to show ya that friends will always stick beside ya no matter what! :teeth:

Hi,

Back from doing a little birthday fairy business... and I looked ahead and saw that not only does Rikku, whom I've not yet met, share my birthday, but his profile says he is from Nashvegas, my homeland dear and far! Rikku, where are you???

RickinNYC and Joe (do you have a color yet?) - It's never a bad time to get presents, dudes! When and where will you register???

llebrekniT - QOTD - We did have "one of Rick's family" in our family, but he had to have a "handfasting" out in San Francisco years ago because I guess "weddings" were too radical. Thank God people are becoming more open-minded. Anyway, he passed away from AIDS early in the epidemic. :( On a separate note, would it be good to send cards to your aunt? When Katholyn posted that we could send birthday cards to her mom in the nursing home, it was great. She got 216 cards and they are still arriving! If getting a smartaleck get well card, (okay, or a boring nice one) would cheer her up, I'd be happy to send one!

Bichon Barb - it snowed again here last night... grrr! It was only what they called "a light dusting" but as I'm sure you feel, any snow is too much! My furbabies are being groomed tomorrow and are getting puppy cuts. They will freeze their fannies off! Oh, and a begrudging kudos for your standing in the NCAA pool right now... I hope you entered a pool with a cash prize somewhere! :)

I need to go buy swap stuff, but I wonder if I should wait a day or two... ohana and RRBB, what do you think?

Thanks! :wave2:

Is that a hint CourtasanSatine;) ;) ;)

Welcome home DisneyDmbNut. I knew someone was missing around here. But this place is so darned big I couldn't keep track of who. So, what do you think about our own island?

DisneyDmbNut, I sent you a PM, Would you like in on the swap? Today is the deadline...
http://www.tagliarchy.com/tagliarchy_swap.htm

QOTD...Well, I have a cousin who used to drag me every week to the Rocky Horror Picture show...after the first time when I sat in the back row and there were 2 girls...uh...trying to do a biological impossibility...I used to go with her as protectction.

I didn't know or care about her preference; she was family and it didn't matter. a few years later when she "Came Out" my family asked me if I knew. I told them I guess I did, but I never noticed.....

I can tell some great stories about her DP's, but I think this is not the best place...

QOTD from last week, I have the "Default" on the computers at work, My Laptop (old one) has Mickey. At home I am fairly boring. BUT, I have DW picture on my Cell Phone...

Hi all!

I just stopped by to say hi and tell ya all to PM me if anything important comes up about the swap or whatever. Oldest is sick! He has the flu bug of the week... I won't go into details but I am doing mucho cleaning up. The triage nurse says he won't see school until Wed. at the earliest. I feel so bad for him. He's gonna miss his team's last game of the season and we have sunshine outside so all he can do is groan from the couch how he can't even look out the window. My poor baby!!

Well, I'll be lurking a bunch and maybe I can post if I get a chance. (Right now he's dozing...so I took a chance.) Hope everyone else is doing OK and beware of the bug.

PS This stuff is contagious so guess who's gonna get it next?

disneyluvers,

LYSOL, LYSOL, LYSOL, LYSOL!!!! Not that it helps but it makes me feel better about trying to avoid catching it. Pixie Dust loads to Josh ... it should make him feel better because he doesn't have to eat it! I feel so bad for him missing his game. I still remember the stuff I missed when I was sick. Waaah...

So sorry about your son :( and hope you don't get it as well! I'm throwing loads of fairy dust your way as well.....

.....this really has been a LONG winter of sickness.....never have DS9 or I been so sick so many times....sure hope Spring brings good health along with good weather for everyone!

I jumped the gun and went and bought my stuff to send. Warning, it's a bit colorful. There wasn't a lot of choice with colors, but what the heck, we are a colorful bunch afterall.

Anyway, carrying the bags into the office I realized that this is going to cost more in postage than the actual gifts themselves. :earseek: Oh well, it's going to be a lot easier to ship than my first idea which is Syracuse China.

I did stop into Syracuse China. I was going to get everyone a pretty coffee cup and saucer, but then the reality of shipping the stuff set in. Ohanafamily would have killed me. LOL. I never realized how heavy their stuff is. No wonder restaurants use their china. Oh well, it's the thought that counts. ;)

iluvtink, my dogs stink! :earseek: I hate it when they get that doggie smell. (Those of you with nonshedders will know what I mean.) I hinted to DH this weekend that they needed a bath. I guess he thinks he is still too injured to give baths. How often to you bathe your dogs? I usually bathe mine every two weeks. It's one of those chores that I hate. It's right up there with cleaning bathrooms.

Amos gets a bath once every three months. The vet said not to bathe hime much. Wooooo hooooooooo, my last dog :( was a Cocker and she needed to be bathed once a month or more often. I miss her, but not that job. ;)

OK, how weird is this, I just found out my mom is "Talking To" my dad about inviting my Dear Gay Cousin to a party they are throwing. Her name isn't mentioned for months....

Bichon Barb, I honestly wouldn't mind, but I would ask that you make sure I can repack it withou breaking it...I would figure something out.....

Good evening everyone,
So how has everyones day been (or is going I guess for most of you guys)? Mine has been OK. I had a great PE lesson today with all the kids on the apparatus which I joined in with, swinging upside down on the ropes etc:)
I saw someone mentioned battered mars bars earlier. They serve them at our local fish and chip shop (along with battered black pudding and battered haggis.) The town I live in is was developed about 35 years ago when the steel works opened. Anyway, when the town was developed a lot of families who worked in steel factories in Scotland moved down here, so there are many Scottish things around, even in the fish and chip shops.
So does anyone have an exciting evening planned? I guess I plan to do some sorting out and tidying followed by some TV watching. I also saw a job today that I have been waiting for the advert for so I plan to phone for an application pack for that this evening. So I might take a look at my CV and last job application letter and get them up to date. Oh and also this evening I am going to sort out my things for the swap, I know what I am doing now, I just need to make something!!
Bye for now

I'm actually the only gay one in my family. I've never officially had a sit down chat with my mom and dad about life, the universe and everything. In fact, years ago, back when I was about 20 or 21, I almost broached the topic. My dad got a pick panicy and said, "Whatever you do with the rest of your life, don't ever tell me you're gay. I'd rather live the rest of my life ignorant than know my own son is a f----t." And that's a quote.

At the time he said that, we weren't getting along much at all. But our relationship has changed quite a bit over the years.

He spent more than 25 years in the military, and he's a staunch believer in "Don't ask, don't tell." I can't fault him for that.

I do recall over the years, that he and Mom had a couple of friends who were most definitely gay. And it didn't seem to bother them. I guess when it's in your immediate family, it can be a bit more difficult.

Anyway, over the years, they both have mellowed. Joe's parents have passed away. His mom when he was 13 and his dad when he was 19. When my parents met him, and learned of his folks shortly thereafter, they pretty much adopted him and brought him into our family, no questions asked.

He's definitely a part of our family and he's included in all functions. On numerous occasions when I haven't been able to come home for a holiday due to work, they've called him and told him that he doesn't need me to be with him for him to come home.

My folks are much more evolved that I ever thought possible. They're both 69 years old, going on 70 this year. I don't intend to try to change their minds or their belief system. We respect each other and love each other. Can't ask for much more than that!

I shutter at the thought of even trying a fried Mars bar from THAT place. Who's to know if they are frying those things in the same vat of fat? I wouldn't want any bloody things near my chocolate. YUK! :scared:
