Hi guys! And welcome to the Tag HollyAnn!

I still haven't heard back from the company that I've been interviewing with. Feel like this isn't a good sign... :( Although I did have a weird dream over the weekend that I got a call from a guy who I didn't know who said that I'm not supposed to know yet but that they had decided to hire me; the job was mine. Strange, eh? Hope it's prophetic!

Anyway, I'll let you guys know when I do!

I'll be crazy busy today and tomorrow. Tomorrow afternoon, we will be conducting our single largest food rescue of the year. Last year, with almost 300 volunteers, we collected 127,700 pounds of great stuff in under 3 hours. That amounts to more than 100,000 meals per person! We hope to match or exceed this number in 2004! That said, I'm pretty bogged down with work!

It's a great time, very fast paced if not downright hectic, incredibly mind boggling, and I love every minute (but boy, I want THAT JOB!!!)
RickinNYC We're all pulling for you and can't wait to hear!

But I gotta know....that HUGE food rescue....WHO in the world has that much food that would be wasted if not for AWESOME people like you and your organization?!?! Those numbers just BOGGLE my mind :(

Yes I am familiar with Sunderland football club, in fact my cleaner at work supports them. They are quite a big club here but not the biggest. They were demoted a league this season (as were Leeds United the club I support) so they are quite good but not in the best group of clubs.

No Beach, No Pensacola. I'm from the Jacksonville area. I'd visit WDW more often, but my hubby is seriously Disney challenged. He only goes to humor me......but I love him anyway!

I'm hitting the world in September for my 40th, then going on a cruise for my 50th, but if I go anytime inbetween, it will be with the kids (grown step kids), the grandbabies, or some friends!

Ya'll take care!
Hollyann We lived in JAX for 18 months! Loved it!! DH was at Cecil Field and then transitioned over the NAS NAX when Cecil closed. DH is intel....was working with VQ-6 (ES-3's) while we were there, but they got decomissioned. We used to go to Disney every other weekend when we lived there :teeth: No kids to worry about then. Woke up Saturday with nothing to do, so we'd just jump in the car and be there before lunch :) Ahh....those were the days :) We'll be moving to Tampa this time next year, so those good ol' days may be making a return :teeth:

What part of town are you in? We lived down in Madarin and I know RickinNYC lived in Orange Park and graduated from OPHS. His dad was Navy, too!

The food is what's left over from the International Fancy Food & Confection Show. It's a trade show with 2200 exhibitors and vendors that give out samples, use food to demonstrate their latest kitchen equipment, etc... It used to all be thrown away but now we collect every pound that's donated. Then our trucks deliver the stuff right away. Given the amount, we drop off all of it over the next two to three days to more than 800 community programs in NYC.

My volunteers are the collectors, consolidators and truck loaders. Lots of work, LOTS of stress! But lots of fun and incredibly gratifying. I pull my hair out, get migraines, cuss a lot but it all comes out in the wash and the evening ends with a HUGE smile and a couple of ice cold beers with coworkers. Everyone toasts each other, we tell each other war stories of the day/night, and drag our tired bodies home.
