I'll be in charge of around 600 volunteers but tonight is a meeting for committee members only .......and I'm truly dreading standing in front of all 600 next August when they need to sign up for shifts. Last year, this same fundraiser raised over $240,000.......... so as Martha Stewart always says, "It's a GOOD thing"

Maybe I can get RickinNYC aka Prince Charming to do it for me.....the ladies would love it especially with him being so tall, dark and handsome.....

The baby pictures will be posted on the TAGLIARCHY website Saturday afternoon before ohanafamily and I head out for WDW. You'll have the week while we're gone to study the photos and decide who's who. When you think you have it right, send a PM to Nieceosaurus with your answer. (Her PM box will be empty, whereas mine and ohanafamily's seems to fill up rather quickly.) The winner will be announced June 1 - we get back the night of May 31.

And yes, there will be a list of all participants so you'll at least have that to work with.

Don't forget, Nephosaurus has a special prize picked out for the winner. So if you want a chance to win it, you have to enter your baby photo into the contest.

Okay, after all the reviews of Shrek 2 I've seen today I really want to see that movie soon. But where's the time??? I guess I'll have to wait until we get back from WDW. Oh and then another couple weeks because I'll be leaving town again a few days later to see my sister in CA. And the day after I get back from there I'm spending 3 days at a scrapbooking convention - taking classes and going to late crops. Wahhhhhh, I may have to wait for it to come out on DVD before I get to see it.

As far as the speech goes, my speech teacher in college said that one way to gain confidence is to imagine and project over and over again that everyone in your audience is sitting in their underwear. Practice your speech with that picture in your head and it will relax you... it worked for me, and I don't THINK I'm a perv!!! Oh, and how did you get roped into this? Is it a group you are active in, or did you get bamboozled into doing this by someone else?

The money goes towards our "Youth at Risk" programs....we bought a big old house two years ago and started an agency called SAFE CHILD which supports new mothers and families with programs to prevent child abuse. We even have a class for children called "funny tummy feelings" which teaches them to tell a responsible adult if they are being touched in an unsuitable manner. This was a highly controversal program at first, but I truly believe it is best to let children know what is proper behavior and what is not. It helps prevent them from being abused and them abusing others, some without even knowing they are abusing younger siblings, etc......it's such a sad thing....and it's a really good program.

I know I've told you more than you wanted to hear.....back to chatting

I did kinda get bamboozled as I've been on this committee for about 4 years and the original Chair moved away so I kinda got stuck due to experience. I'm a member of the Junior League of Raleigh and before you roll your eyes....yes, we do have our share of women who think they're better than everybody else, but the women on my committee are all fun and silly goofballs and we basically have a great time. It's a LOT of work and I have to deal with a lot of "witches with a b" but the fun I have with my friends and the amount of money raised makes it all worthwile

Right there with ya.....I'm guilty too.....started at POFQ but changed to CSR cause of pool and lower rate....still hope I made the right choice

Bwhaaaaaaaaaaa. Wouldn't it have been a hoot if me and the kids DID go there? We were this close (pinching my fingers). Apparently our principle is doing the South Beach diet, and that is why he took him there. (I must say that Rob usually brings them someplace a little bit nicer than a chain restaurant.)

I've been working on the flight thing all morning all to no avail. We are talking at least $300 round trip (and that's not even direct).

LLEBREKNIT, I just want you to know that I couldn't sleep last night. I couldn't get the vision of all those bows out of my head. I had to stiffle the giggles so that I didn't wake up Rob.

This is from the ball I went to as a favor in 1982. My friend Mary Jo and I went with the Dingle twins. No lie. That was their last name. And it was fitting. Bwhaaaaaaaaaaa! Okay, what makes this really tacky (besides all the hair and glasses) is that this was my sister's wedding dress (for her first wedding in 1975). It think it was a Guinny Sax (I have no idea how to spell that).

cadburysmom, you'll do a great job. Here's a tip that I offer my coworkers if ever they have to do any public speaking. Just remember that 99.9% of the audience would never ever want to be in your own position. That said, just by virtue of talking to the group, you're showing far more courage than they could.

It's not a "I'm better than you" mentality. It's a "ok, I can do this. They can't... but I CAN" attitude.

And yes, from time to time, I get a little squeamish for some reason. It rears it's ugly head just before I'm about to go on sometimes. But I quash it and do what I gotta do.
