And.. I also thought I'd share some news with you. It is now official! Massachusetts becomes the first state in the nation to allow gay marriage TODAY! :cloud9:

I feel like celebrating!!!!!!
So, when's the wedding? Are we all invited? Who's throwing the shower? Where are you registered??? I just LOVE weddings...can you tell? I even once asked DH if we could get divorced so I could plan our wedding all over again  Just joking, of course, but a vow renewal is right up my alley! ::yes::

Do they let non-residents get married in Massachusetts? Are you guys thinking of it?

It really makes me reconsider my choice of residence!

When I heard it on the news, I rushed onto the internet to read up on more details. It was SO neat to read about the stories of normal, every day folks out there who've been waiting so long to marry their beloved. Made me a tad teary eyed.

Joe and I have been together for 13 and a half years, some better than others, others worse than some, but every day has been special. I want to marry the big dope and now we have choices. Toronto? Provincetown? Woo hoo!:bounce:
Oh, I don't know, billysotherdad...that didn't sound like much of a proposal to me....

You can do better than that, can't you, RickinNYC??

Cool your jets sister and stop yelling at me;)

.......no longer married so I guess I shouldn't answer

.......but I must say I absolutely LOVED wearing my rings when I was married::yes::......I designed them myself.....the engagement ring is a 2 ct. emerald cut diamond with two small round diamonds on either side and a channel cut diamond set on either side of those(my ex-husband was very generous back then), the actual wedding band is plain gold......it is so beautiful and I still love to pull it out every so often and look at it.......I would actually love to use it again if I ever remarried but I bet my new DH would not go for that.....I guess I'll keep it for Jordan to give to his wife.....I could always sale it if I really needed the extra $$$$

Yes! Yes! Tell it again! I love this story and it's sooooooo romantic......Please, Prince Charming....pretty please with cherries on top!!!:Pinkbounc :bounce:

Good evening all,
Boy you guys are chatty again !!!!

QOTD: My engagement ring is an oval saphire with 12 small diamonds around the edge of it on a gold band. It is quite small though. My wedding ring is a gold band which has a diamond cut pattern in it. I also wear an enernity ring on the same finger which is a gold band and a silver band on the top with tiny diamonds cut into it. It was actually what my dad bought my mum but it does not fit her now and my rings kept falling off so I wear it instead. On my other hand I also wear my grandmas wedding ring which is a plain gold band.
For our anniversary last year Pete bought me the ear rings, necklace and bracelet to match my engagement ring which was lovely.

OK, I'm just going to check that the gardeners have done the finishing touches to the Japanese garden before I let you all in to it.

Ok, so all this talk about wedding rings brings me to a new QOTD: What does your engagement ring/wedding ring look like?

Another QOTD: Is your ring engraved? The inside of my engagement band just has the date of our wedding 10-25-97
Well, my first one was a round diamond, platinum Tiffany setting on a thin yellow gold band. Wedding band was thin gold band, too. I picked that style because it was classic and would never go out of style...but it wasn't really me :( And I stopped wearing yellow gold about 2 or 3 years after we were married, so I never wore it.

DH suggested we get it reset :) So loving old rings, we set about looking for an antique setting that would fit my diamond. Everyone that had one already had set a diamond it it (or it had the original) so I still had nada. Finally, a month before Christmas 2002, I found THE ring in a local pawn shop that has a jeweler inside....not the best kind of shop, but they get lots of estate pieces and that's what I was looking for.... So pretty! Perfect since it had a touch of sapphire....old style....clear diamond....lots of filigree and etching...but not big or flashy.... BUT, he wouldn't swap stones. DH talked him down and we got it :pinkbounc But, a year later, one of the sapphires fell out and I saw it on the shower floor  Took it to his parents' jeweler to have it reset and 3 of the other 4 stones were loose, too...so he reset them all. Well.....just last week, looked at my hand....another saphire gone, and not where I could find it!! So it's in the shop now getting reset....AGAIN!!! But I still love this ring....and consider it ring and band all in one :) Here it is...

DH has a simple, thick gold band, although he's on #2 as well. His hands swell and shrink a lot and he wouldn't hear of getting a ring guard....well it fell off one day when we were walking around a little mountain town  Looked everywhere we'd been....left name/number at all the shops and restaurants but noone ever called.

Our originals had the date and Pooh Bear quotes in them ::yes::

Mine said "K-Be sure of me, D (and the date)". His said "D--It's friendlier with 2, K (and the date)" Cheesy? Maybe, but definitely us ::yes:: My 2nd has no room for engraving and I don't remember if we got his done

Danauk The new gardens look magnificent! Sure hope school went well today seeing how you're back to the regular schedule after a week of testing.

Hey, RRBB. Remind me of the rules again for the photo album? Am I supposed to let you know which ones to leave in or take out? I think there's more of my little tribe than there are supposed to be.....you want me to nominate those to get trimmed or you just wanna do it when you need the space??

Your ring is soooo gorgeous.....I love sapphires and estate jewelry!::yes::

All of the descriptions of the wedding rings are really neat to me as they are so diverse and so unique......sure wish I could see pics of all the rings!:teeth:

Gotta go sit in the carpool line......see ya in a bit!:wave2:

Thanks Cadburysmom

School was fine (at least the kids were!!) We finished off an art project that we started on Friday - a 3D creation inspired by Van Gogh's Sunflowers - we have been studying Van Gogh in art this term and then we had gym this afternoon so a relaxing day really (well if you call 29 kids, glue, scissors and tissue paper relaxing!!).

However some of the staff are driving me crazy!! Can I have a small vent please?
OK, usually the children in year 3 and 4 have playtime at 10:45 and the children in year 5 and 6 go out at 11:00. Today though the older children needed to swap playtimes with us as they had a visitor coming in after play. So I told the male year 4 teacher about this and he replied "No problems" so I presumed he had heard what I had said. Anyway at 10:45 he took his kids out anyway and then complained that no one had told him our playtime today was 11:00! So then he asked another teacher to watch his class for 15 minutes whilst he had his break!!! So the teacher said yes thinking that he needed his break as it was his turn to be on playground duty (we take turns). However today was my duty day so he really should have stayed with his class. Anyway at 11:00 he went out on to the playground too, layed on the grass in the corner and sulked (and I mean really sulked - the man is 35 and he was sulking like my 7 year olds!) Later he said he was in a mood with me for changing the play time and not informing him when 1) I did tell him and 2) it was the older children teachers who changed the playtime!!

This man is worse than some of the kids!!

Oh I forgot to say in my vent that also the same teacher refused to come to our team planning meeting last week saying that he could look at our plans by himself so didn't need to discuss them. Then he didn't do the lessons that were on the plan as he didn't have the resources ready and then critisized the art work done by my class and the other class in out team saying "My class don't do nursery (aged 4) work!!!" How rude!! Yet the headmisteress likes our 2 classes art work so much they are being placed in the enterance of the school for everyone to see!

Sorry to rant I feel better now!
