RRBB pulled a fast one! Anyway, since it is through the public schools, you won't be out any money and that's great. My doctor told me not to worry so much about words, just that they are making the sounds. Every now and again she will say "mama" but she goes "moooo" all day long, so that means she can do the "m" and she's just too darned busy right now to care about talking very much. Our chatty time is right before bed when I sit and rock with her for a little bit. She will "talk" my ear off then because she is finally sitting down! Still, she doesn't say many words either. I'm sure he's fine and you will regret teaching him to talk soon enough.

Sure wish the 12 year old didn't know how.

llebreknit, I have caught up on back pages, were you concerned about DD's speech? Honey could we talk?
That was me!
Took Walt in this morning for his screening. Now I will say in the last 2 weeks he's really started babblying more (maybe we can find a way to have our insurance cover our Disney trips because that sure is when he started talking more

) But anyway, he still says fewer words than you'd expect at this age, most of them are indecipherable unless he's pointing at what he's saying, and he doesn't really put many words together in combination (2 word phrases....really only says "Ididit" which he thinks is one word, and "Bye-bye, Mama" (every female is a "mama" to him

). OBTW, he'll be 2 at the end of July and they said at 24 months he should be saying about 100 words....I'm not sure we're even halfway there....So, she said he's borderline and it could go either way....refer for full testing or just wait and see, my choice....but it takes about 3 months to get in for testing, so if I'm inclined at all to get it done, go ahead and schedule it...I can always cancel. SO, we'll have full testing done the first week of August and if he needs services, he can get in pretty quickly since school doesn't start until September here in the Commonwealth! If he keeps coming up with new words, I can always cancel...
The way he's been going on the last 2 weeks or so, I may be worrying for nothing, but it's not getting much clearer, so I'd like to see what the Speech people say.... Also, DH and his DF both have stutters, and that may be worrying me....that a stutter is what's keeping him from trying to speak as much...
As for regretting that he learned so early....well, we're that way with Abbie

I can already see her report cards --"Abbie has a hard time keeping quiet in class"

But that's alright.... Walt, however, screams instead. I'd much rather hear him ramble on than scream so much (unfortunately, his scream is like nails on a chalkboard to me....

)
