BARB'S TRIP REPORT

We had a great time. I ate too much. Couldn't help it. The food was excellent, and it was a package deal. :drinking1 The wine was good too.

Friday night after dinner, we went out and saw a :rockband: . It wasn't a :cool3: RnB band or a :cool1: RnR band. And it certainly wasn't :charac2: a string quartet. It was a C&W :happy2: band. Although we know nothing about C&W music, we had a swell time.

After walking around Alexandria Bay on Saturday morning, we hit the jacuzzi, showered, and crossed the border into Ontario, eh. Actually, we almost didn't make it across, because we didn't bring our passports or birth certificates, but I smiled nicely  princess: at that mean ol' border patrol, and he let us through. Maybe he thought we were illegal :space: . (Sorry, had to use that smilie.) In any event, we kindly gave some of our hard earned money to the Canadians via the Charity Casino, and then headed back to the hotel for a nap and then more food and wine.

All in all, the weekend was filled with plenty of rest, relaxation and debauchery. :teeth: In other words, a hedonist's delight! :cloud9:

Did I tell you I hate her? And mind you, the ENTIRE neighborhood can't stand her either!
Jordan and I moved into our house late Dec 2003 and being new to the neighborhood and a single mom, I wondered what the neighbors would think. Well one next door neighbor who happens to be divorced too was so mean and nasty to me and had me in tears weekly. Every Sat morning she would knock on my door with another complaint. Dumb as I thought her complaints were, I assumed the rest of the neighbors felt the same way.....she even said she'd received other complaints. Well........I got up the nerve to go to the neighborhood Christmas party and found out that she is the neighborhood "wacko", even nicknamed Ms. Wacko and everyone pitied me from the moment I moved in just because they knew how much trouble she would give me.....now I'm good friends with the rest of the neighborhood and we share funny stories about Ms. Wacko from time to time........if only I knew then what I know now!

I've always been very polite to her because I don't want to burn any bridges and besides, she is my next door neighbor and I might need her help sometime. Besides, she is totally wacko and who knows what she's capable of. The next time she gives me any trouble, I'm going to sic RickinNYC on her! That'll definitely do the trick :teeth:

OF and RRBB so sorry about the nieces not being able to join you this may. think how disappointed they are.
Actually they were never told. Didn't want to get their hopes up just in case this was the result. But they still have something to be excited about. When I was still down in San Antonio I invited them to fly here (by themselves) for a visit over the summer. The younger one (8 yrs.) is already talking about flying by herself, AGAIN.

It leaves at 11:00AM. They need to be there at 9:00AM, and cannot leave until the plane leaves the gate. This is on their opening day.

:(
I realize this is none of my business but maybe a babysitter could take the girls to the airport for their flight....or does it have to be a parent of guardian? Oops, I think I answered my own question but .......Jordan flew to England with his grandmother last summer and I didn't have to check him in....all they needed was his passport .....makes you kinda wonder about security for young ones.....

Bichon Barb So glad you and hubby had a great weekend!:).....but....I need more details.......what did you eat......do you have pics....etc.......

Unaccompanied kids under 15 must be checked in by a parent or guardian and that person has to remain at the gate until the plane leaves. They also have to be at the airport 2 hours early. The problem with all this is that the day they'd come out to FL to join us is the day their parents plan to open their restaurant and timing cuts right into lunch hour. They'd have a few really close friends in their neighborhood "guardianship" for that but don't think they'd be available for it. And then there's the return...

It sounds like when Jordan flew he was with an adult, his grandmother. If someone were to fly with them it wouldn't be a problem but that's not a possibility this time around. Oh well, it will happen one of these years.

Cheeringmom, great big congratulations to Lauren for her great review (or whatever it was.) :bounce:

Evening all,
Can I join you all for lunch (or in my case dinner!!)?

I don't have any police stories to share myself, I am and always have been a good girl

Bichon Barb sounds like you had a great trip :D

Can I have a small work related vent please? I have a classroom assistant who is really good with the children and who I rely on a lot. If I know she is going to be off I can work around it but do rely on her a lot. Today she was off sick (again, she has lots of sik days, before christmas she was off for 8 weeks and I get no replacement when she is not here.) The trouble is that she never bothers to let me know when she is sick so I only find out at the stff briefing when I notice she is not there at which point it is too late to change my plans for the day. I wish she would let me know if she is not coming in (I think it is only polite to let me know.) Do you guys think I am unreasonable in asking her to let me know? I don't think so and have asked her in the past if she could tell me if she will not be in but she still does not (she does not phone in sick and tell the head either, she just sends a message with another member of staff who today also happened to be off sick as well.) I also don't know if she will be in tomorrow or when she will be back!

OK vent over!!!!

Right, does anyone have any plans for this evening? I plan to do as little as possible :teeth:

Well I better be going as the :cat: :cat: are wondering around and need feeding!!

Rick, I don't think this would fit in a PM, so I'm posting it here:

Rising Sign is in 02 Degrees Cancer
Very sensitive by nature, you prefer to be in your own familiar surroundings. Cautious and conservative, you make changes in your life only very slowly, if at all. You do not open up easily to strangers. Friendships are made for life, however -- once given, your trust is forever. Your mother, your home as a child and your early family life in general are very important to you. You are also very sentimental. When you feel self- confident, you are gentle, giving and protective of the needs of others. But when you feel insecure or threatened, you become overly sensitive to criticism, shy, withdrawn and moody. You have a strong need for security -- in the sense that you are being loved, nourished and protected.

Sun is in 04 Degrees Virgo.
Extremely careful and cautious by nature, you value neatness and order above all else. You rigorously practice very high standards of living and conduct and you demand the same of everyone with whom you come into contact. At times, you are so supercritical that you are merely nit-picky. You are very good at practical skills and quite handy with tools of all kinds. You are also greatly concerned with hygiene, cleanliness and personal health problems. Very likely your health is much better than you think it is -- don't worry so much! Extremely methodical and analytical, you are a perfectionist -- this makes you the perfect person to carry out highly detailed, precise operations. But, at times, you pay so much attention to details that you lose sight of the larger issues.

Moon is in 05 Degrees Aquarius.
Very freedom-oriented, you must always be able to do what you wish, no matter what. You become stubborn and recalcitrant when others try to force you into a mold. You are a true democrat -- you are not a follower, but you enjoy being with those who are like-minded. You appreciate emotional self-control -- you practice it yourself and you look for it in others. You solve problems, including emotional ones, with your brains and intellect, not your feelings. Try to be tolerant of those who have powerful and obvious emotional responses -- not everyone is as objective, cool, dispassionate and detached as you are.

Mercury is in 22 Degrees Leo.
You are usually quite convinced that your own ideas are correct and you enjoy persuading others that they are. At times, you are very stubborn and proud of your beliefs and principles, and you get very defensive when they are challenged. You appreciate truth and honesty -- you practice it yourself and expect it in others. You have good talent for organizing, directing and planning. You delight in being asked for your advice and counsel.

Venus is in 15 Degrees Leo.
You have a striking, regal appearance and demeanor that attracts others to you. Your friendship is highly sought and you tend to take friendships quite seriously -- you remain loyal and true to those to whom you are attached. For you, love is mixed with pride and respect. Relationships are over when you lose respect for your partner. Be careful of a tendency to relate only to those who make you look good -- the powerful, important and influential. This can lead to arrogance and selfishness, and neither of these qualities becomes you.

Mars is in 01 Degrees Leo.
You are a very proud person. Strong, bold, courageous and self-possessed, you love to be the one to initiate significant actions. When people expect a lot of you, you respond positively and will work hard in order to maintain their respect. But when your dignity or pride is threatened, you tend to become sarcastic, arrogant and domineering. Try not to take any challenge or resistance that you meet as a personal affront. You are very stubborn about your right to live your life according to your own principles.

Jupiter is in 24 Degrees Cancer.
You must be emotionally secure in order to grow and develop. You are happiest when your family and community support and nourish you and boost your morale. Whether your childhood experiences of love and emotional dependability were positive or negative will set the tone for your emotional growth and stability as an adult. When you feel at ease with yourself, you are able to offer assistance to those who need a helping hand.

Saturn is in 27 Degrees Pisces.
Your tendency to think that your life is out of control is based on an unreasonable fear, probably connected with an unfortunate experience with the person who filled the father figure role in your early life. Learn to take responsibility here and now for your own life. Try to stop having unrealistic expectations about guide figures. Remember that they are merely human, with all the same faults and self-doubts that you have. When you get confused or uncertain, try to simplify your lifestyle -- things will then become easier to bear.

Uranus is in 19 Degrees Virgo.
You, and all your peers, will be known for the degree of intensity with which you dislike normal everyday routines and chores. You will go out of your way to invent innovative, unique and timesaving ways to perform the various mundane routines and duties of living. You will be attracted to all manner of practical and useful gadgets -- anything that will make your daily life more exciting.

Neptune is in 19 Degrees Scorpio.
You, and your entire generation, are extremely interested in anything deep and mysterious. You will explore and idealize the benefits that can accrue from the study of the occult, healing and psychology. You are willing to experiment with substances like drugs in order to push your understanding of your inner being to the extreme.

Pluto is in 17 Degrees Virgo.
For your entire generation, this will be a time when profound changes in society's attitude toward work, duty and responsibility will be initiated. Radical changes in attitudes toward personal health and general nutrition will be promulgated and gain wide acceptance and practice.

N. Node is in 19 Degrees Taurus.
It's not in your nature to seek out many casual acquaintances in your daily round of activities. You feel much more comfortable with a small, close-knit group of people -- those with whom you can relax and work toward known and clearly defined goals. Your loyalty to a person or group, once given, is forever -- you'll expend all of your quite considerable energy in seeing that the group stays together and prospers. You choose your partners and relationships so carefully that you're bound to gain certain advantages from them, including those of a material nature. Be careful though not to let mere self-service be your motivation in establishing your connections -- make sure that there's an even give-and-take!

Sounds like a pretty good reason to vent....I can't believe she doesn't even bother to call the school when she's sick, not to mention you as it affects you directly.....you'd think it would be school policy and the Head would have taken care of this problem already. It is DEFINTELY NOT too much to ask her to give you the common courtesy of letting you know she will not be there so you can plan around it. Give me her phone # and I'll call her for you........unnecessary rudeness just drives me nuts!

Thanks cadburysmom I didn't think I was being unreasonable. The problem with the head is that when we are sick we have to get a message to the deputy head as she sorts out cover. I don't know why the head does not do anything about this as she gets just as irritated. But our head is not the greatest boss ever. She does not like discipline so she does not confront people who are not sticking to the rules!!
