Good morning, y'all! (Just living up to my honorary GRITS potential.)

Sorry I missed everyone this weekend. I see that we had some exciting moments, Boo losing her first tooth! I only hope that when we get to that stage, my DS has as good a reaction. :goodvibes

Well, we went to look at two houses this weekend. One was so awful, guys. So awful. I shudder. Seriously.

The other was...:cloud9:

Honestly, I loved it. I'm not big on capes usually, but this one felt like it had a good amount of room. Just under 1500 square feet, and a fully finished basement. A very, very nice backyard, almost 1/2 an acre and all fenced in. The kitchen had this great pass through to the dining room which I was in love with, because it made it so open. Our apartment has an open floor plan, which I love, so it was nice to feel that there as well. There are so many things I loved about it, but a few drawbacks. It needs major updating. It was built in the 50s, and with the exception of new appliances in the kitchen, it just hasn't been updated. At. All. And please forgive me if I'm offeding anyone, but the upstairs half bath...let's just say I felt like I was in a cabin in the woods. :lmao: It was all wood, lantern style lighting. Oh my. Wilderness Lodge, here I come! :goodvibes I love the Wilderness Lodge, it's one of my favorite resorts, but I don't necessarily want that in a bathroom, savvy?

Anyway, we've asked the agent to find out more about it for us. Why has it been on the market for about 5 months and not sold? How old is the roof? Is there any asbestos? Yadda, yadda, you get the idea.

But I really, really liked it.

:::sigh:::

For the right price...:rolleyes1

...it's not working....

I hope everything works out just the way you need it to with the house. Don't let the updating scare you.....too much. Just make sure that is reflected in the price. Because you know you are going to want to remodel as soon as possible. If it were me, I would make a list of everything you would need to do to be happy with the home. Then make sure that list is doable in a reasonable amount of time. :goodvibes

Actually, DH and I were just discussing that this morning! We verbally agreed on what needs to be done first in order to make it liveable to us. But I really should make a handwritten list of everything that I think should be done to it. Unfortunately, it's a lot, but some things are simple like a fresh coat of paint, you know? I'm sure there are a lot of little things we could do from the outset to make it feel newer and more our style before we tackle big projects.

One of my first things would be to take that upstairs bath and put in a shower stall. There's plenty of room for one, and that would make it so much nicer for us. There are two bedrooms upstairs (one with double closets which I would love to use as the master bedroom) and a smaller bedroom downstairs, and the full bath is downstairs. So it would be nice to take care of that. But there's a lot of old fixtures all around.

Okay, I'll stop typing and go make a list. :lmao:

Hey y'all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Quickie update!

We're IN FLORIDA!!! Had an uneventful if long drive down last week. We are, however, still at the hotel and hanging out at my dad's....waiting for housing to come through. Loooonnnnng story. Details later. We looked at about 6 places yesterday.

I have already found our new pizza place.....they have a Playstation at every booth!!... My kids were in pizza heaven. Food was good too! Last night we went to Cold Stone Creamery for ice cream and you have never experienced anything quite like it if you've never been there!! It's an attraction by itself.

I'll do a complete mini-trip report of our trip down at some later date, but I just want to add that we stopped for dinner at Cracker Barrel in Lumberton, NC one night and I thought of you, creativeamanda!! Smileybug, you live in a very beautiful state....I was really enjoying SC (even if I-95 going through there is awful!!:scared:).

Mean Queen - I'm HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!! (even if I'm currently homeless....:rotfl:)

.

TK....list, list and more list. :thumbsup2 You can go wrong with a list. :rotfl:

LegoMom....Hey you!! I'm glad the trip down was uneventful. but I'm sorry for whatever has happened with your house. Lots of pixie dust :wizard: on finding one soon. Can't wait to hear your trip report. Thanks on your comment about SC. I sure love it here. Take care. Hope you are back soon. :goodvibes

cheermom....What are you up to today?

So waiting to hear back from the realtor is no fun. I wonder how I'd feel if I actually put an offer on something. This totally goes against my new "roll with the punches" attitude. :lmao: My inner ocd demon is screaming for information!
