You need to take your room size into consideration. I'm sorry I didn't ask you that. :goodvibes You don't want your fireplace to be the only thinkg you see when you walk into that room. You want it to be a nice focal point. :thumbsup2

yep we did a lot of measuring yesterday and we think that 48 x 52 is going to be good for the room and still give us the effect we want

I hope the modification goes just the way you need it to. :thumbsup2 If you ever need any decorative wood pieces for anything around the house and Lowes or Home Depot doesn't have what you want, don't forget about your local craft store. We have gone that route for a few things around the house.

You're welcome. :goodvibes Have you ever done any tile work? I want to put in a tile/stone backsplash in my kitchen. Hubby is great with wood working. But we have never done any tile work.

no neither has my dh but we haven't done the kitchen with anything permanent but this summer we are (we have to take it to the studs to put insulation in there isn't any at all) now that i have the layout the way i want it this can be done. I know a tad backwards :rotfl2:

How are you wanting to decorate?

I'm a mix between traditional and contemporary. I LOVE the furniture to have legs so i can see under them but Love the idea of a great wooden traditional fire place. I watch a lot of HGTV ;)

How about you?

I would say that I am a mix between old world and traditional. I like faux paint finishes that have that old look. There are things I want to do here but I'm feeling a little afraid of them. Don't know why because I did what I wanted at the other house. Or at least tried things. I watch a lot of HGTV to. :goodvibes My colors are in the golds, greens, reds and brown/beige tones.

my colors tend to be chocolate brown, beige, all shades of purples, blues and greens. i do anything I want but I'm afraid it won't turn out the way i intended it to so usually don't do anything that dramatic to the walls, trim, and doors they are all neutral, tanish beige walls with white trim and fireplace.but my furniture is chocolate brown, pillows, curtains and rugs all have the colors in them. now my bookcases and entertainment center and amours are all black

LegoMom and SadieDog....Are ya'll in for blizzard conditions over the next couple of days? :scared1: I sure hope not.

I sure hope not. I guess I should check out the weather report.

Smileybug you just gave me an idea - my coffee table and end tables are not black so I'm going to paint them black, i have the paint i made my console table and painted it black so i already have the paint. thanks :cool1:

That sounds really pretty.

Hey SadieDog :goodvibes I'm not sure where the bad weather is supposed to happened. That is why I was asking ya'll if you were in for it. I just know there is some weird stuff out there right now. It will be affecting us by this weekend with our temps dropping and storms. I sure you both are out of reach for anything serious.

Hey TK. It is going well. :goodvibes
DD only works 3 days a week. Pretty much evenings and makes good money. This restaurant has been great for working around her school schedule. Speaking of school I haven't told ya'll....She has been accepted into the Radiology program.   They only accept 29 new students at a time.

:cheer2: Fantastic news on the acceptance. I read about Radiology programs rectently and how difficult it is to get accepted into the field. She sure does work some long hours. That's great that her job will work around her schedule.

My daughter worked Sat night 4-11pm standing as a cashier. She needs some decent footwear too. She didn't get home until 11:35pm. I doze off but can't really sleep until I know she is home. Then last night she had to work till 9pm. She was tired this morning for school and has dance tonight. I'm thinking she will be in bed as soon as possible.

I like black. It makes everything around it pop. But yet it fades into the bakground. Does that make sense? :confused3

Thanks :goodvibes My DD hits a brick wall every now and then and I just let her sleep as much as possible. If your DD can wear crocs to work I highly suggest looking into them. My DD wears the MaryJanes. They are cute if you can call crocs cute.

We must have posted at the same time. When I posted Wed snow, sleet and rain, another page with your post was already there. You are quick.

I think she can wear crocs. She has to wear a white button up shirt and whatever she wants for pants. She can wear jeans so I doubt crocs would be a problem. I don't find crocs cute, but if they feel good on your feet, that's what matters. Maybe I can talk her into a pair. Come to think of it, she only has 2 work shirts and could use a couple more.

My DD has to wear all black. The tops are provided by the resturant and then they buy their black pants. I think most of the servers wear crocs there. Even the guys.
