Good morning, guys!

I have my own little take on the budget board. I have to say, there are some great posters / threads over there. I practice, however, a LOT of skimming. Much like I do on any board on the DIS. You get your doom and gloomers everywhere, and people who feel that if you're posting a personal issue, you've given them a free pass to judge you 'til kingdom come.

Last time I checked, that was a right reserved for God. But who am I?

In all seriousness, I know a lot of people like this in real life, too, and let me say, I'm sure I've been guilty of judging others. Part of my little challenge with that book I was reading is to let go of all the negative, so I'm really working on it. You never know someone's back story.

And on a side note. DH and I are still paying off his student loan. Other than that, we don't have debt. That's it. Don't carry a balance on the cards, cars paid for, you get the idea.

Because we have that debt, some would indicate that we should not be taking any vacations until that debt is paid off. And this is where I disagree. (Mostly with my sister, ha ha.) You never know how long you have or what tomorrow will bring. We had a scare with one of my family members over the weekend. I don't want to go into it, because that family member is a very private person, and I don't want to splash her personal info all over the DIS. Let's just say, I thought I was watching someone die. And we feel very, very, very lucky that she's still here. Thank you, God.

So I don't know how long any of us have, really. Not trying to be so depressing this morning, more of an affirmation. If it means it takes me longer to pay off our one student loan that's left because come h*** or high water, I plan on going to Disney with my family (extended as well) in September, then so be it. It's all about choices. We all make choices.

That being said, it was one thread on the budget board that inspired me so much to pay down that loan, and I do owe a lot to that one. Because of it's positive posters (that's some alliteration for you right there) I was able to reduce that student loan by half.

You take the good, you take the bad, you take it all, and then you have the facts of life....

Anyway...

TK you should write a book. Srsly! That was well-said and tasteful. I'm so sorry about your scare this weekend, though.... Glad things are better.

DH and I both have student loans. We will be paying those off literally for the rest of our lives, so if we waited until they were gone we would never go ANY where!

Our trip to Disney this past year was paid for with part of our tax refund (airfare) and our stimulous check (the package). I know too many people who would (and did....) argue that we should have paid off debt with that money, but I argue back that a) we didn't go into further debt to take the trip, and b) I knew our lives were going to be turned upside down in the coming year (although no idea to this extent!!) and it could be the last trip for a while. NO regrets whatsoever.

And, of course, I met TK, so there ya go....

TK....I'm truly sorry for the scare ya'll had this weekend. Ihope and pray that this person is on the mend.

I don't have a problem with the budget board itself. There are a lot of good people there with a lot of great ideas! It was that one thread. Out of curiosity I went back last night and looked for it. It had been closed. What I was getting at was the lack of compassion that is shown for our fellow man these days.

Meanwhile, it was 7-below here when I got up.... This has got to stop!!! DH said this has been the coldest winter he can remember and I think I have to agree.

It is not 7-below where he is headed!

He's heading out after taking the younger two boys to school and I'll go off and do grocery shopping then. Will probably spend the rest of the day DISin---I mean packing!...

my finances we would make most of the budget board have heart attacks. But I'm a live for today because who knows if we'll have tomorrow person. My mother died a few years ago. All I have left of her are my memories (and her looks and wicked sense of humor). I want my kids to look back at their childhood and have good memories of us together as a family.

Party planning is going pretty good right now I'm trying to find someone that has a bunch of bamboo growing in their yard so i can get some that stuff is I don't think so. I am working in the invitations I think I have them ready to print I didn't want to print them on the paper I got till I had it right.
I got some awesome post card paper that has a great luau theme with 4 to a page so i got a 100 invitations for 3.55 I am still working on the palm trees and tiki torches. thanks for asking
