I got her a few things at Limited Too then took her to get her ears pierced. This is the third time. The past two times her ears got infected from "hypo-allerginic" earrings. We have to stick with 14k gold from now on. I said she must have rich blood if it will only accept gold.

I'm the same way. The first time I had my ears pierced I got horrible cysts behind one of my ears that the doctor had to drain. I obviously let the holes close. I had them repierced as an adult and now I can wear earrings for NO MORE than one day at a time and absolutely cannot sleep with them in.

I got my ears pierced at 13. After about 4 years and much trouble, I finally gave up. I was allergic to everything. My left hole still gets a small amount of puss every few weeks. They would get red, swollen and painful and I told my daughter stories about it and she has never dared to have her ears done.

OK, it's 83 in my house. When I go upstairs in my bedroom is is a noticable difference. It's so hot you can't breath up there. No way I can go to bed. At minimum, it's 5 degrees hotter which would bring it to a lovely low of 88 in my bedroom. After I am up there, when I come downstairs, the 83 down here seems cool. Anyone like to sleep in a 88-90 degree bedroom? I'll trade you for an air conditioned room. Hopefully it will start cooling down soon.

Yikes, I got infections all the time. My ears probably would have fallen off. It didn't matter how well I took care of them. Yours must have held out better than mine.

Just like my boss' son.....did his own - with a pair of scissors!! Now he's got one of those cuffs in one ear, with a couple of silver rings through that. I'm used to it now, but when I first saw it, it was by far the most bizarre thing I'd ever seen.

I ran our A/C today out of desperation. I turned it off at dinnertime, though, and have fans in the windows to try to suck in some cool air (it's down to 70 outside!).

My bedroom, though, is hot (and we live in a ranch, so no "upstairs"!!). DS8 and DS6 sleep in the finished room in the basement...best room in the house when it's hot out!

I ran our A/C today out of desperation. I turned it off at dinnertime, though, and have fans in the windows to try to suck in some cool air (it's down to 70 outside!).

My bedroom, though, is hot (and we live in a ranch, so no "upstairs"!!). DS8 and DS6 sleep in the finished room in the basement...best room in the house when it's hot out!

I have a small ranch with an addition on one end. My bedroom is above the addition so it's the only upstairs room in the house. HOT HOT HOT

Ahhhhhhhh a finished basement room. Our cellar is too damp for a room.

My ears are pierced 3 times on each side. I had the other two done professionally. I've had my nose and belly button pierced. Yes,,,Me. The belly button I had done twice and rejected it both times. Even with a very expensive belly ring. The nose ring I just got tired of and took it out. That one was a very tiny diamond stud that I had made. Not very noticable at all.

I only have 1/4 tank of oil and won't be able to get any for a while. I had to get K-1 for our hot water monitor last week b/c we were on empty. I could only get 50 gallons b/c it was $4.90 gallon. I had to pay a $10 fee for getting less than 100 gallons. Sure didn't have enough $ for 100 gallons. I still don't know how I am going to pay for the septic issues estimated at $650. I have not received the bill yet. Oil prices are SCARY!

Are ya'll having to pay those high, high heating oil cost?

Well, yes and no. What we get, we'll pay through the nose for, but we're putting a wood stove in the living room and that will be our primary source of heat. Our hot water tank is gas (propane) but without the furnace running all the time, we should only use a fraction of what we used to. We're like Sadiedog, though, in that when the time comes, we won't be able to afford a normal fill! I don't know what the heating company is going to do, because in the past they've had a minimum fill requirement. I have a feeling we won't be the only ones asking for partials, though!

Another reason to love the South....just give me a nice ol' heat pump to take the chill off.

Cool. I never would have guessed that of you. I wouldn't dare try piercing anything else after my ears were unsuccessful.

I just don't know what to say. I have read several threads on the high cost of heating oil. I really hope things turn around soon.

All we can do is hope. That and throw another sweater on and wrap up in a blanket.

Thanks for the good day wishes. I am about to wake my son up to get ready for his last day of All Sports Camp. Today they have a cookout so no need to pack a lunch. Anything that makes my day easier is a plus. I SHOULD clean and do laundry.
