People in this accident were locals and it has been a horrible thing- but what they are finding now really really makes my blood boil!! This woman was driving with 5 children in the car!!!! She wiped out all three of her brothers children and one of her own and put her son in the hospital- she hit another car and killed a father and son and family friend---for WHAT??? How could anyone be this selfish and irresponsible???????

I could not agree with you more April. I was SO saddened to read this :sad1:, and INFURIATED that she decided to drive while drunk and high.

I agree this is a horrific turn to an already awful story. My question is, do you think her family knew this all along, and have just been waiting for it to come out? She had to have been drinking/smoking during the camping trip itself, right? She couldn't have left that morning from the campground clean, consumed that much alcohol and smoked pot, and continued home, could she? To me it doesn't even make sense. Who was on this trip with her that watched this whole thing unfolding and did nothing? I just can't get my head around this at all. All those lives lost.... it's just terrible.

I've been following this too. That burnt up wrecked car was one of the worst accidents I had ever seen.

Anyone who missed what the car looked like can see it here as well as an inteview by the son of two of the victims in the other car.

I had a feeling she might have taken some medication or something that impaired her abilities. I had hoped it was only something like that. But to deliberately drink & smoke pot before driving, infuriates me.

If someone has a death wish, is suicidal, they should put the gun to their own head. But, don't involve helpless children. And don't drive as other people could get killed.

A third car was hit too. Those people were injured but luckily survived. Five families were affected by this woman's selfishness. :sad2:

Driving schools and Drivers Ed programs should use this case as their example of how stupid & selfish it is to drink, drug & drive.

I wonder if a wrongful death case can be brought against the family members if they knew she drank & drugged then got into the car. If they knew, these murders are on their hands too.

WOW, just watched that video. I was out last night so I never watched the evening news (I always watch channel 7) my heart goes out for the families of all involved.

Just awful. Makes me so mad at this irresponsible woman:mad:however my heart cries for her brothers children who all died due to her carelessness. How could no one know what was going on???:confused3

I don't know that I could ever forgive my sister for something like this.

I don't know that I could ever forgive my sister for something like this.

She's dead. But I am with you-it would be a hard thing to forgive.

I couldn't believe what I was hearing last night. How could someone do that? Plus wasn't it in the morning? Was she up all night? Or woke up and drank? Just so very awful.
Plus I think they are investigating who was with her. Who handed over the kids to her wasted?

I lost a friend in high school to a drunk driver. I just don't understand why someone would get behind the wheel drunk alone. With a bunch of children that weren't my own? There is nothing there to understand.
Selfish is a good word. And so are a bunch of others that are not dis-approved.

Even still.

I think drunk driving is one of the most selfish things a person could do. Those poor families.

Heartbreaking :sad2:, my heart and prayers go out to all involved. :sad1:

I think that I would blame myself. How could the family not know that this woman had a problem? To drive with that much alcohol in her system, and apparently continue to drink while she was driving - all while she was smoking pot?

No way I would let my boys ride in a car with someone like that. And, if I did, and they were killed, I would torture myself... :sad1:

Ok, so she had the alcoholic equivalent of 10 drinks in her system along with the marijuana. I feel bad for all those families. But I have to wonder how her brother did not know she was drinking this badly? Maybe i watch too much intervention, but 10 drinks to me says habitual alcoholic. I think if I were him I'd be blaming myself. It is NOT his fault, but I can't imagine how he wouldn't feel that way.

I think we start down a slippery slope when we start trying to blame others for one person's choices.

Blaming her husband, family, friends, whomever isn't going to bring back any of the dead. My guess is that they will be living in their own special hell.

I thought I read somewhere that she called her brother and said she wasn't feeling good and he asked if she wanted him to come and get her and the kids and she said no...

:guilty:

Yes, she did call. He did travel there, but was too late. Her husband was with her that morning, according to the news he says she was OK when he left her. (he was going fishing, so he was in another car)

It is possible that the families did not know the extent of her alcoholism. Or were in denial.

It made me sick to my stomach to read this last night. In 1995 I lost my best friend to a wrong-way drunk driver. In that situation there were also cars pulling off to the side to avoid being hit by him, and flashing their lights and honking at him, and a state trooper chasing him down (on the correct side of the highway) who witnessed the crash.

I just cannot comprehend how people can be this selfish and stupid! Yes, I would absolutely blame myself if I allowed my child to ride in a car with someone I know (or even suspect!) had been drinking or doing drugs.
