Just to be clear of mind is it good for a year from the date you bought it? Or the first day you use it and activate it? Thanx for the info in advance.

Our TIW card is good for either 14 or 15 months, I can't remember right now. We purchased it last October at the IG entrance to EPCOT, and they activated it then.

From the date you purchase it. It is not activated like a park pass.

When we purchased ours in DTD on the first day of our trip last December, we were told it was good for 13 months from the date of purchase.
But now when I look at it, it was purchased on December 17th 2011 and the expirations date is January 31st 2013.... so its good through the end of Jan. rather than expiring on Jan 17th 2013.

Yes, so you get more days if you buy it early in the month. If you bought it April 1, 2012, it would expire May 31, 2013. If you bought it on April 28, 2012, it would still expire on May 31, 2013.

It is good for the rest of the month you bought it and then twelve more months. So if you buy it early in the month, you'll get nearly 13 months. If you buy it later in the month, you might only get 12 months plus a few more days.

We are arriving 5/18 for one night, then cruising for 7, then back at VWL for 2 more nights with another trip planned for Dec 2012. I might just bite the bullet and get the card on 5/18 and eat at Epcot that night, then use it for 2 days in May and then our next trip in Dec 2012. My old card expired 4/30/2012.

To account for the processing and mailing time, the Disney Dining Experience card, (now known as Tables In Wonderland) had days added to it's expiration date. Disney has kept the extra days policy in place even for cards purchased at WDW.

We bought ours during our June 2011 trip at DHS. Our card is good until July 31, 2012.

Although we don't eat many TS meals, the card has paid for itself. We had an impromptu trip to WDW in April where we stayed at AS Movies. We used it several times at the food court.
