We are taking our first vacation as DVC Members in March 2012. Can i buy a Tables in Wonderland card just by being a DVC member?

It is supposed to be available in the spring, no date has been announced. Right now it's FL Residents & AP Holders.

Not yet. They announced in December that it is coming for members this year with no date certain or price given. Rumor mill has been mentioning "spring" and there is not even a rumor yet on price.

$75 for an AP holder, $100 for a Florida resident. Good for a year.

If both my sister & myself have AP's, do both of us need to purchase the TIW or can just one of us buy it to cover our meals when we take our trip in Sept.?
My sister became a DVC member in 2010 and we made our first trip home Jan. 3-10. We did the dining plan but have thought we would like to try TWI for our next WDW trip. We just weren't sure if one card would cover the both of us or if we needed two.
Thanks.:)

As long as you are dining together, one card is enough. The card is in the owner's name, but it is good for up to 10 diners at a meal.

You can use one card- the big thing to know is that while you can use it for up to 10 meals at a time- they all have to be paid with the same credit card most of the time so make sure you plan for that.

:thanks: I will let my sister know.

There has been a report that a DVC member purchased a TIW by showing their DVC ID card. The price is $100 and according to the CM, the perk went into affect this week. Not all CM's are aware of the change so be persistent.

Have any other DVC Members at WDW tried to buy this week?

Just curious, what is the price on TIW for annual pass holders?

Edit.......Nevermind. I found it. $75 for AP holders. SO DVC members are getting the same price as FL residents. Good to know.

I'm sure I could make up the $100 on drinks alone during my trips :)

Wow! Thank you very much. I plan on CG and a few other nice restaurants and this will I think definately help. I think my last CG bill for 4 of us was maybe $250-$300.

Thanks.

I leave for Disney on Friday. I will check and get back to everyone next week when I return. :)
I will keep my fingers crossed.

If $100, that's disappointing. To break even on $100 you have to spend $500 on food at TS. Unless you go frequently, which we do not. We would get one trip out of the card, otherwise we'd buy a season pass. This is looking to be a perk without real perk. I was hoping it would be available at the season pass price.

Looks like we need to stick with our plan to try and visit twice in a twelve month period and do annuals plus TiW.

We would still spend $500 SO easily though, with our family of 4. Every time I price out our food estimate for a week, it's at least $1000. I just did that again last year when considering the dining plan (which wasn't saving us anything vs. TiW) and it was about $1050, I think. That includes CS for lunch most of the time, a TS most days, and maybe 1 character meal.

But I agree it's better at $75. We have APs right now through April, so we only paid $75 for ours.

Boy am I stupid. I just reread this thread, and didn't realize I posted the same question twice. Sorry.....

Anyway, we would probably still by it if it is the $100 for DVC members, but I'm curious. My brother is planning a trip in December. If we got it in Nov, could he use it on his trip in December, or will he need I.D. or a membership card? I'm not trying to be a scammer, just help my brother out if it's allowed.

I only ask because we traveled last year with friends, and they handed us their card every time we went somewhere to eat or drink without them. Is that different because I was vacationing with them?

The TiW card has the card holders name printed on it. The fine print on the back of the TiW card says a photo id must be shown to get the TiW discount. What the servers (and managers that have to approve the discount) do is anyones guess.

We became members in november and bought AP and TIW card. Have found it good value as it covers the tip of 18% and a bit extra. Can I ask. Is there any CS tht take this card? If so do they still add gratuity?

I' m here now and while I just mine because I'm an AP holder, I'll try to stop by guest services and ask. As for the poster who questioned letting others use their card.....I've been carded several times recently using my TiW card. Recently I've been asked for ID at the 50s prime time, Olivia's, and several of the value resort food courts. I would probably be asked more often for my ID, but I use my room card with my name on it to pay.
