So here we go again with our yearly question to do the DDP or not. We do not eat desserts at every meal nor do all 3 of us snack during the day. So last year we ended our stay with uneaten desserts in our refrigerator and hurrying up at the boardwalk sweetshop to use all our snacks on candy for our daughter to take to kids at school.
So this year we thought we would split our DDP along with our stay only having the plan for the first part so we could use all the snacks, and eat all the desserts before we leave Disney.
We also looked further into the Tables in Wonderland and even though the discount is only on sit downs we wonder if this is the way to go.

Just wondering what the concensus is about the use of the two plans?

Just my experience: We did the deluxe dining plan last year and ended up in the same situation. We had lots of left over snack credits and desserts in our fridge at BLT. We rarely eat apps and don't always order a dessert, and if we do we split it. My mom and I often split an entree because the heat kills our appetites. My nephews don't always find a the kids meals appealing. We never order dessert at CS meals. To have more flexibility, we are just using our TiW card this summer.

Personally I would go with TiW. However, you do have to have an AP to get one.

That's the determining factor afaic: If the AP make sense, by itself, then TiW will probably always be better than DDP, probably before even factoring-in all the additional flexibility it offers.

These things work out best for us when we plan on two trips within a 12 month period, of course. We use the APs and TiW for both trips; generally, APs are always better than regular admission for two trips in the same 12 month period, and TiW broke-even, for us, right about the end of the first of the two trips.
