I am going to WDW with a group of 9 people. With all of our ADR's, it looks like the TIW will only save a small amount over the Deluxe Dining Plan - but it would add in some flexibility and it would probably save us a little more than I figured because we might be having alcohol. My questions:
1) When dining with the group of 9, can we separate the bill and still have the TIW apply to everyone? I know it will cover all of us (eating at the same time), but am unsure if that means it has to be on one check that the person with the TIW card has to pay.
2) We have a Magical Gathering planned - specifically the safari. Does the TIW apply to that. I think the dinner is at Tusker House, which does accept it, but it is a special package and I'm thinking it would not apply.

Card applies to only one check so no separate bills. I can't answer regarding special events.

Ask them if they can split the payments and not the check - in other words split it after they've calculated the TIW discount for the whole party. If you are dining with people on the plan, they can apply the TIW discount for their alcohol, but it will be on the TIW check. If you apply it to a package, it will discount only things that are not included (booze).

The person with the TIW card doesn't have to pay- their meal just needs to be on the bill. Although we did have 1 time at O'Hana's where there were 20 of us and 4 TIW cards and the waitress simply applied the discount to each of the bills (most of us were paying seperately but we were going to have everyone without a card give there money to someone with a card and then pay with cash/card but take the cash to cover the bill). I know that is not a common occurance as it didn't happen either of the last 2 years but some will be willing to do it.

I guess I phrased that poorly. I didn't mean that the person with the TIW card would have to buy everyone dinner, but rather that they would have to be on the actual check for everything to be discounted. If you only get one check (as it sound like that is what has to happen), are they (Disney) willing to break the payments out among 3 parties? We will only have one TIW card. If it is difficult to ask this at each restaurant (we have quite a few ADR's), I am thinking it might be easier to do the Deluxe Dining Plan - that I know they can break up the party into 3 separate checks. The TIW card does save us some money and gives us a little more flexibility - but the anticipated savings will not be worth trying to break out the payments on our own over the entire week. And the Disney Deluxe Dining Plan would give us more deserts, appetizers, and 126 snacks that I wasn't counting on buying (looks like lots of people back home might be getting Mickey Rice Krispy Treats).
