We are coimming to wdw next AUg for about 10 days. We use the ddp but wind up buying some meals out of pocket and we always have wine with dinner, coctails at the pool, lol. Four adults and 2 children.

My step father is a fla resident and will be traveling with us.

My question is should we get TIW? I think it would be a big help but not quite sure?
Advice?

Would you get TIW in addition to DDP or instead of it?

Possibly. Almost all sit down restaurants and associated lounges at WDW accept TiW. You can find a complete list at www.tablesinwonderland.com. Keep in mind that the TiW discount applies to alcohol as well. If you spend $100 on the TiW card, you need to spend $500 over the next full year to reach the break even point.

And just to add...it's $500 to break even at the $100 purchase price for a DVC or AP holder, but those people also get some discounts just for being DVC or AP - not at as many places, or often not as much, more like 10-15% in most cases - so the break even could be more.

Also, some people don't like that TIW automatically adds an 18% tip for all table service meals, whereas it usually only happens with parties of 6 or more. 18% is the standard U.S. serving tip though.

We got the tables in wonderland in Dec.. I purchased APs for three of us since I knew we would be back in August.

the TIW cost 100.00 so I used it in Cinderellas Royal Table and got most of my money back. I saved 20% off the bill

the TIW will pay for up to 10 people but youhave to pay the bill. No getting seperated checks.

You are also charged a 18% gratutity.

Having an AP gets me 10% off a lot of dining room places. but that added 10% adds up.

Have you considered paying out of pocket and using the TIW-?

I did and saved a lot of money

One more about how the card works. If we buy it and it is in my stepfathers name, Say we are at the pool and my mom buys something from the pool bar can she use the card? Does he have to be the one using it? Do you need to show ID when using it? Just wondering

I have read that TIW also gives something off on merchandice? True?

No. About the closest is that if you use it at one of the Value food courts (and Artists Palette at SSR) where they also sell refillable mugs, you can get the discount on the mug.

Officially the person whose name is on the card MUST be the one making and paying for the purchase, and may be required to show ID. Although there has been some flexibility, they have gotten more strict in the past year.

I just read the answer to my question on the TIW site. Can we charge to the room via MAgic bands?

ok I know I am asking too much but one more, Does the second person have to be a Fla resident as well? My stepfather is a FLa resident with fla id. My mom is Nj resident....would she be eligable for the second card?

I'm not sure how strict they are on the "spouse" requirement. She may need to show in some way that she is the spouse, especially if her ID doesn't have the same address as the primary person. Not sure what is acceptable in that regard.

my husband and I are both AP holders. Do we need to buy 2 cards? Also can you still use a credit card to pay for the meal after the discount? in other words do I have to pay cash for my meal? Thanks

You only need 2 cards if you each want to be able to get meals separately and pay and get the discount. Say, if you aren't always dining together. There is a "spouse" card which is an additional $50. Of course that raises the break-even point on savings.

You can absolutely pay with a credit card. The TIW card does not limit how you pay - it only technically limits who can pay (the cardholder, if getting the discount)

Well I just did a rough calculation if all 6 of us go to CRT....about $300:crazy2: We will definatly hit that $500 with ease lol. Ot but holy crap that is alot for lunch!!! Might have to just pretend it is not there lol
