I'm looking into Tables in Wonderland, and one thing I read said they automatically add an 18% gratuity to "all transactions". I knew they did this for table service restaurants, but the card is accepted at come counter service places, too. Do they add the gratuity even when you use it at a counter service restaurant?

Thanks!

While the cast members would probably love to receive tips, there is really no mechanism to tip at the counter service locations. Think of each location like a fast food restaurant. An order taker will help you with your order, you complete your payment, and the CM's behind the counter will present your food.

As for the table service, having completed a week on the Dining Plan, the tip is calculated on the bill (at 18% and 20% amounts), but is only a "friendly" suggestion. There is no automatic tip anymore. In fact, inside each bill folder (the black folder they present the bill in), there is a note stating that a tip is not required. I would imagine that the TIW service would be the same for this aspect.

Thank you, Chef! That just wasn't stated clearly in anything I read, but it certainly makes sense :goodvibes

Raven, Tables in Wonderland definitely adds the gratuity for table service meals. It's a discount program for Annual Passholders and/or Florida residents, and not at all related to the dining plan. But thanks anyway! :thumbsup2

Here is a working example, using $100.00 as the original bill to make the math show up easily. Note this is for Table Service. At Counter Service there is no gratuity added.

100.00 - Original Amount
*20.00 - Discount
*80.00 - Subtotal
*18.00 - Gratuity Added based on $100
**5.20 - Sales Tax on $80
103.20 - Final amount charged, takes into consideration discount, gratuity and tax.

Without TiW Discount (and still figuring 18% Gratuity)

100.00 - Amount of Bill
*18.00 - Gratuity
**6.50 - Sales Tax on $100
124.50 - Total

$21.30 - Savings using TiW Card.

(Note - At Victoria and Albert's the added gratuity is 20% instead of 18%.)
* Ignore the asterisks; they are there only so the columns/numbers line up properly.

Can anyone buy a TIW card? Do you have to have an AP? What if you own DVC? :thanks:

I have a TIW question:

It says that you can use the TIW discount at the last show for the HDDMR. Since gratuity is included in the HDDMR, do you just get a flat 20% off?

I have a TIW card but haven't ever used it at HDDMR. Does anyone know how it would work there?

Thanks!

You can buy the TIW card at Guest Services windows, but you must be an AP holder or FL resident. (we love ours!)

You get the flat 20% off. At least, that's what's happened at each of the tip-included places we've used our TiW.

The TiW was particularly nice at Artist Palette, where we got discounts on bottles of wine with no tip added.

What counter service locations take TIW? I didn't know any of them did, I thought it was Table Service only.

HDDMR is a flat 20% off.

Counter service places that accept TiW:
All the Value resort food courts
Port Orleans French Quarter food court
Saratoga Springs food court (Artist's Palette)
Animal Kingdom park: Flame Tree BBQ, Pizzafari, Restaurantosaurus

Also remember with your TiW Card alcohol and beverages are includes in the 20% off.

Tipping discussion is limited to the Tipping Information sticky thread at the top of this forum. Please read the first post for an explanation.
