Tables in Wonderland 2011 even worth it??

Here is a working example, using $100.00 as the original bill to make the math show up easily. Note this is for Table Service. At Counter Service there is no gratuity added.

100.00 - Original Amount
*20.00 - Discount
*80.00 - Subtotal
*18.00 - Gratuity Added based on $100
**5.20 - Sales Tax on $80
103.20 - Final amount charged, takes into consideration discount, gratuity and tax.

Without TiW Discount (and still figuring 18% Gratuity)

100.00 - Amount of Bill
*18.00 - Gratuity
**6.50 - Sales Tax on $100
124.50 - Total

$21.30 - Savings using TiW Card.

(Note - At Victoria and Albert's the added gratuity is 20% instead of 18%.)
* Ignore the asterisks; they are there only so the columns/numbers line up properly.

Thank you SO MUCH for clearing this up for me! Well, this would totally be worth it for us, and I think we may end up saving more money from this than the QS dining plan. We can easily spend $60 on each counter service meal, using the TIW card, that would be a $12 savings. It would more than pay for itself in no time! Does this go yearly on your AP anniversary OR the date u actually purchase the AP card?

Just to say it one more time - it is not good at very many counter services at all. So what you wrote above would most likely be a BAD plan.

You have to spend $375 in eligible restaurants/lounges to break even on the TiW Card (at the $75 AP holder price). After that, anything else is savings.

So I see Il Mulino is on the list. I'm pretty sure it wasn't there a few years ago.

We love that place! Excellent Italian food. Definately worth the walk from IG.

We will be purchasing our very first AP later this year. Reading about TiW has me excited about saving a little more money!

My stupid question - is the discount good for your whole bill, or just one person's order? If I buy it, does dh need to get it too? (I read about the spouse's discount and that's where the confusion comes in.) TIA!

The TiW Discount covers not more than ten people on one bill.

And the Spouse card is only needed if you are not both together for a specific meal. If your party is more than ten, you cannot use both the basic card and the spouse card for the same couple at the same meal.

So, in order to take advantage of the savings, we wouldn't need 3 TiW cards for DH, DS and I, we'd only need to buy 1, correct??

Thank you - I get it now! :)

Disney, as usual, screws up their Web Site!!!!

There is a thread like this almost every week, I cannot believe such a large corporation cannot do a better job with their information.

FWIW, it's really only a formatting problem. And since most of us skim instead of really pay attention to the formatting of bold and font size etc, it's also partially a problem with how we interpret the info.

They should differentiate it better, but the heading is:

Dining Benefits and Discounts

And then they have subheaders of:

Tables in Wonderland Membership Discount

and

Downtown Disney Dining Discounts

and then the various park Dining Discounts

and then

Walt Disney World® Resort Hotels Dining Discounts

Ages ago my mom took a class about formatting websites and presentations, and they said you shouldn't use more than 4 different things on any page. So if you use two colors, you only have 2 other different things left. One one font, and put italics somewhere, and that's IT.

It's almost like the web designer for that page took the same class. The problem is, so FEW people use those guidelines that our brains are used to seeing a much BIGGER differentiation, so we skim ahead and think that the list under the DTD AP discount info is modifying the TIW.

A problem, that's for sure, and the designer should change it. But it's not, as far as I've seen, an actual problem with the info.

TIW worked great for us! We hit the $75 savings mark before our last meal, and we are relatively cheap eaters, when we aren't at an expensive buffet.

I have just in the last day or so figured out that I may do better if I get APs for my family due to multiple trips coming up within a 12 month period. That got me looking for what other benefits AP holders may get (we've never done APs before).

So, my first stupid question is TIW - it is available to Florida residents only? That's what the WDW website looked like to me, but it looks like several of you who are from other states are planning to do TIW.

Second stupid question - where can I go to get an (accurate!) overview of the benefits of APs - room discounts, dining discounts (either with or without TIW), any other benefits...?

Thanks so much!

Leslie

The Wonderland card costs $100 for FL residents or $75 for AP holders.
Here's a pretty comprehensive list of the AP benefits (including TiW):

I've got a question...I got the fantasmic dining package @ HBD for our trip next week. According to the website the Brown Derby is a la carte...what does that mean...it said that TIW can't be used on F! dining pkg but if HBD is a la carte then I can choose anything off the menu and pay for what I order...if anyone have experience at F! pkg with TIW please let me know how this works...Thanks

How does it work for CRT as you need to pay ahead of time. Between free parking and 10 of us at CRT for breakfast, it may make sense for me to upgrade from 10 day ticket to AP with TIW.

You are charged the full amount when you make your ADR. When you are there show your server your TIW card and you'll get a credit on your CC.

LOVE my TIW card. Has always saved us more than "free" dining and when you stay offside, the AP saves that gawd awful daily parking fee.

The anniversary date of the TiW card is based on when you buy it. I bought my TiW card mid-February 2011 and if I remember correctly it expires the end of February or March (can't recall which off hand) 2012. My APs expire June 2011.

We eat a lot of meals at our resort. Pop and POFQ are among the resorts we'll choose. The food courts at these resorts as well as all other values plus POR accept TiW. CS locations at AK also accept TiW. As long at PP understands which CS locations do and don't accept TiW then it could work out very well for him.

I read or heard somewhere that the break even point for the TIW card is purchasing $375 worth of food/drinks. I like using the TIW card and it's pretty easy for a group of four adults to do this quickly considering we eat a sit down table service dinner every night and most days eat a quick service lunch or breakfast. It's definitley cheaper this way for us than the dining plan.

So a quick question. Are there bars at many of the world showcase restaurants where I could hop in and grab a drink with a 20% discount? Or bars at many of the park table service venues period? That would easily make it worth while to me! :)

Mexican pavilion and the Rose and Crown are the only two that I can think of.

How quickly can I get my TIW if I buy my pass while down there? Can I get it at the the park at guest services?
