Table Turned on the Scammer

I had a scammer approach me while in the ghost lobby. He had me in trade window and wanted to know if i would trade my sorcerer hat for his bird hat, I said sure. I put my hat in the trade window and he said "here take these too", and he added around 9 pins(the cheap ones) into the trade window really fast and quickly removed the bird hat, so I quickly removed the sorcerer hat and accepted the trade. he was in such a hurry he clicked the 2nd accept button before he realized I had taken out my hat also.

Than I said in the lobby, "Scammer , that will teach you to mess with me" He stayed for a few seconds and than booked, but I have his name and will report him anyways.

Good for you. We could hope that would teach him but sadly I doubt it unless more were to do this to those that try to scam. A reminder to all to pay attention to those trade windows at each click to make sure its all there.

Its great that you stood up for yourself however you did take his pins right? I think what you did was very clever but I am a little worried that you got his pins.... however low he was, you still took his pins and VMK staff may accuse you of scamming.....

Funny story, but you should have canceled instead of accepting the trade, because now you are the scammer. I know it's nice to see the tables turned on the bad guys, but you should never do it by going to their level.

The scammer asked for it. They only lost cheap pins and they don't care anyway. People like that prey on kids and rip them off. My son used to love vmk but he was finally so disgusted with the people like that, that he gave all his stuff away and left VMK for good. It really is too bad. I'm glad that the tables are turned!

Well... Staff still consider taking any item a scam.

The way I see it, you didn't become a scammer through this at all. You both took the original items out and he wanted to give you a gift. xp

Since you both accepted the trade, according to vmk, then you are not in my opinion a scammer. That being said I think it was risky on your part, but hopefully you will not be reported as a scammer. Sorry you were almost a victim. Sad how these things can keep going on and on and on. VMK if you are listening, please make more moderators available so these things do not happen...I noticed on another site that disney just bought that there is a moderator in virtually every room, monitoring everything...a good idea, I think so YES!

Like I said in the first post I plan on reporting this person through the contact us button, surely VMk can go back and check his chat with me and see he was doing wrong. I just showed him what it felt like, but he was not out anything major just 6 Epcot pins and 2 Disney's California Adventure pins. I plan on sending VMk a link to this thread also so they can see exactly what I did, If they ban me so be it. But until we start fighting back againsts this idiots, they will continue.

The way I see it, that could have been somebody's young kid playing on VMK instead of me, and they would be so excited they would never have checked to see that hat disappear from the scammers window. Than they would be out the their sorcerer hat, and crying to mommy and daddy.

So if they ban me, they should ban the scammer also because he removed his item first. That would be one less scammer on VMK. I will take one for the team, just let me give my rare to my friends first.

Exactly the way I see it, besides he had a chance to confront me. He left and I guess he figured those pins were worth not getting reported. He thought wrong!!

That's not true. Look at what it says. If both people accept the trade and it is completed then oh well. I'm sorry but I see so many things said by whoever about how they were scammed but yet if those people were just more careful about the trades by checking the windows before each accept screen or listening to a gut instinct maybe they would have avoided it. I know that isn't always the case but alot of the times it seems to be. And really VMK won't do a thing from how it has been going. I don't the scammer would really take the time to report someone for doing it to him though but in the end VMK would just say to bad you accepted. Sucks..yes for those that are really scammed.

I kind of see it this way as well. The pins weren't offered as part of the original trade...he just threw them up there and offered them to you, telling you to take them...which you did.

well, I know they say that you are supposed to make sure you check over the trade in the 2nd window and im not sure how staff ban for people that change items but they perhaps check on what was agreed and see if that is ban-worthy.

My exact report I sent to VMK minus this scammers name. Hopefully they will read this and see that some of us are tired of the idiots ripping kids off.


I would like to report ************ for trying to scam me tonight. We were in the Ghosts lobby area. He clicked on me to trade and asked if I would trade my sorcerer hat for his bird hat, I replies sure. He put his hat in the trade window and I put mine in my window. Than he said here take this other stuff too, and he put in like 6 epcot pins and 2 california adventure pins. Than he qucikly removed the bird hat and hit accept, so I removed my hat and hit accept. Now we both still have to accept the trade again and he goes ahead and does it because I think he was in such a hurry he did'nt realize I had turned the table on him by removing my hat from the trade like he did his hat.
I than called him a scammer and said that will teach you to mess with me. He than quickly disappears out of the ghost lobby and never returns. I waited for awhile in case he reported me to tell my side of the story.

This kind of stuff on VMK needs to be a thing of the past, get rid of these people. If I was really a little kid like this game was intended for, I might have been scammed by this idiot.

If you have to ban me, I am fine with it as long as this person gets the same or more since he started the scam first. People are getting tired of this behavior on VMK and I am willing to take my punishment as long as ************ gets punished too. But if you give me a ban for very long, let me atleast donate my stuff to my friends.

Just kidding. Just a thought on how to potentially make the best of a bad situation on the pins you have....just find some new players around (legit ones, not mules) and preferably the little kids, and just hand them out as presents. Or potentially use them as prizes in a quest.

Almost a Robbin Hood like thing to do if I'd say.
