This may be a bit of a weird question (searched through the first 7 pages, and didn't see it mentioned).

My wife and I are travelling together. Is it possible to request a dining table with another (random) party? We don't know anyone else that is going, and although we (of course) like each other's company, sometimes it's nice to meet new folks.

Previously, when we cruised, we were part of a party of 4, and they sat us at a 4-top table.

Unless you request a two person table you are most likely to get a table with others. I love my husband but always want to sit with other people to get to know them. on Disney as well as other cruises we have often shared tables. If for some reason you get a two top the first night you can always ask to move. Or go to the dining room ahead of time and make this request so they can make a change if needed.

As above, DH & I have always been assigned to a table with others on all our cruises that there were only 2 of us. Sometimes it was a 4 top (with an additional 2 people), sometimes it was an 8 top (with 6 other people).

The only time you'd need to request to be seated with others is if you are sailing Concierge. The default seating for Concierge is to be seated at their own table.

In that case, you can just call DCL and have the request to seated with others placed on your reservation. Probably could call Shoreside Concierge to make the request, also.

Last December second seating was about 1/2 empty (yes, a little eerie) - my daughter and I were seated at a four top alone...I do think it depends on the time of year and the fullness of the cruise

4 of us, and we were seated at a table for 4. My kids were a bit disappointed as the tablemates were something they enjoyed on previous cruises.

Are you in any groups for your sailing? I posted in ours about wanting to share a table, and we linked our dinner reservations together.

Just as people put in requests to sit alone, you can put in a request to be sat at a larger table. Call DCL or your travel agent and ask them to put in a request to be at a 6-8 person table.
