Table for 12 on TLC

So I watched it again a couple of nights ago...it was the one where they took the older twins to the mall and let them roam free.

I gotta say, I liked this episode better than the first one. It is refreshing to see two parents who communicate with each other - and have a sense of humor about the things their kids do, but still discipline the kids - and the kids are well behaved.

I especially liked when the one twin broke the helicopter and immediately took it up and told the clerk.

Yes, that episode was really cute I thought! I also liked the other one they played that night where they were doing things around their house and showed the progression of their house. How they kept adding on to there house to make room for all of their kids. That was cool to see how handy he is! :)

I don't seek it out, but if I flip the channel and it's on, I'll watch it..

They seem like a nice, normal, happy family.. Hopefully they won't end up like Jon & Kate..

I'm not too fond of shows where parents use their children solely for financial gain, fame, and fortune..

Out of all of them, I have the most respect for The Duggars.. I think that what they are trying to do is to promote a different lifestyle - one that includes religion, taking the moral high ground, respect, and wholesome family values.. Their lifestyle may not be for everyone - but for those who do embrace it, it's a show where they can actually see it in the workings..:)

Yeah I also hope they do not end up like Jon and Kate! But their family is totally different than Jon and Kate which is why I like them. I also really like the Duggars!! I watch that show ALL the time. They fascinate me!! :thumbsup2

I'm enjoying this show/family; they grow on me more and more each week. :) I liked the most recent episodes where we got to hear the older kids talk about their siblings and their parents; it really showed how they're being raised! :thumbsup2 I think the 2 oldest boys are good examples for their younger siblings, of course no kids are perfect, but with their current mindset, they're doing extremely well.

I think the HUGE difference between JK8 and these other families is that the other families were already very well established, the kids were older, when filming started. With JK8, they weren't married very long, the twins were still young, and the 6 little kids were VERY little. They never had a normal life with their family, EVER, while the other families did not have the cameras in their houses right from the start.

I am not defending JK8 at all, (I think Kate is a nasty, self-absorbed woman, but that's an entirely different thread. LOL), but you can see where the lack of family maturity has been to their detriment. They were almost sure to fail in their marriage because they didn't have a strong foundation first, before all the kids and before all the fame. It's sad, and I hope they somehow can work through the current mess; I really would love to see them come through TOGETHER on the other side of this.

My friend's dad actually knows the Hayes dad, and he doesn't think there is any way that they will become like Jon and Kate. Eric loves what he does with the police force, and can't see him leaving it. Apparently, they got offers to do a show earlier on when the sextuplets were first born, but the family didn't want to. If they decided to do a show, they wanted the kids to be older and have somewhat of an opinion, which at age 4, they can express frustration and what have you. I don't really fault them for doing the show, they live in a rather expensive part of NJ, and with 10 kids, working for the police doesn't always cover quite as much. Especially with all the medical bills for the little one (Rebecca, I think? I haven't watched enough to know who's who). With them, apparently, what you see is what you get, a down to earth loving family with a whole bunch of kids.

The mom admits she's not perfect. She doesn't care if her kids are all dressed alike when they go somewhere (unlike another mom on TV). She's more concerned that the kids are wearing something and having a good time. They say they'll stop the show once one person says they want out, and I honestly believe that they will. They're more focused on the family, than the "show" of the family, which J&K were from the beginning with insisting that the kids dress alike. I remember one episode where Kate yelled at Jon because he was using the wrong color hair tie on the girl's hair. Seriously? It's a hair tie. I can't imagine Betty getting all in arms about something like that, not from what I've seen of the show or from what I've heard from my friend.

I totally agree! :thumbsup2

Yeah I agree they seem really normal and like they are a true normal family on TV. I guess that is why I like watching it so much. They make me laugh and you can see how much they ALL really love each other. I hope they stay on TV for a while. I think it is great Eric has so much pride in being an officer! I really liked the episode where he took the younger ones to take a tour of the police station that was cute! :thumbsup2
