I worked front desk at a Disney hotel for over 2 years. I have heard it all, usually ending with "But my travel agent PROMISED me...." Of course, I don't know if it's just people trying to pull a fast one or if their travel agents were really that irresponsible, but probably a mix of both.

So i ncase you're wondering...

No, you can't have a castle view at All-Star Movies
No, you don't get free tickets when you stay at a Disney hotel
No, Disney really doesn't own Universal Studios/IOA/SeaWorld, etc...
No, you can't sleep in bunk beds at a value resort
No, you can't walk from park to park (well, I guess you could if you had enough time)
No, Bugs Bunny will not be signing autographs at the Magic Kingdom
No, you can't have a 2 bedroom suite with a kitchenette at Pop Century

...even though you're travel agent promised you.

As a former travel agent who worked at the after hours "emergency" line I can tell you is GENERALLY - at LEAST 98% of the time is the customer NOT understanding something.... no matter HOW many times it's been explained to them and no matter how many pieces of paper they've signed acknowledging so...

I suppose there are SOME travel agents out there that are clueless - but for the most part I think they're pretty ok...

I actually took a call once from a girl... leaving on her HONEYMOON... she was at her house - heading to the airport to fly to an international destination.. swearing up and down they were never told she needed a passport... (wherever they were going she needed one)... I did what I could to reschedule... called the branch manager of the office that sold her the tickets... (at HOME on a Sunday morning)... she knew full well who the girl was and told her over and over she'd need the passport... the girl had ordered it but had not recieved it yet... somehow she thought that we could fix it for her... :confused3

She wasn't too thrilled when I patched the branch manager into the call tho... :rotfl2:

pamlet - I know just what you mean! I'm a former AAA agent.

Many stories but I once had a young woman who came in and got quotes for a Eurorail pass from me, took my card, and I never heard from her again until . . . the receptionist came up to me with my card and told me this woman was saying that I told her all she had to do was show my card and she could see me right away (we had a queue so NOT). Then when I got to her turns out she ordered a pass from somewhere - who knows - had no info written down like a confirmation number etc, hadn't received it in the mail and was leaving the next day for Europe. She though I could fix it for her. She couldn't even give me any info? Don't know if she really even bought one from somewhere or if she thought I'd just hand a pass over to her - but told her since she didn't buy it from me, and couldn't give me any info on who she did buy it from - couldn't help her. She left in a huff and "well, what is AAA for then".

There are people who are just scam artists too. Some people know exactly what you told them and you've got it in writing (CYA) but come back with these complaints (the shower was so small I couldn't even fit in it) trying to recoup some of the cost of the trip. There are people who will try anything.

*chuckles* I know EXACTLY where you're coming from here. I'd love to know how this turned out. I'm sure she was miserable with her "suite" at Pop.

Now the premium plan is incredible, that would be all inclusive, inculding parasailing and tours, but not a suite at pop... because it just doesn't have one.

We stayed in the Presidental Suite at Pop.

Its on the concierge level right next to where you get the free shuttle to Seaworld and Universal.

I worked with someone who "stayed at the presidential suite" in the CR. Her husband was "connected." Then every picture she showed around the office of her family vacation was strangely identical to the ASM pool, ASM food court. In fact right outside her window from the Pres. suite at the CR her children saw a 12 story Buzz Lightyear every morning!

Oh yeah, Mary Poppins came to the room and read a story to the kids every night!

:rotfl:

Umm, you guys, she was there once in 1982! I don't know why you are questioning her knowledge of Disney! Nothing has changed since then, right??

What boggles my mind is how this kind of mental illness develops. It reared its ugly head against earlier this week on Airline, with the woman trying to get to Arizona. Some people have to have everything be their way, or else they're being disrespected, not listened to, etc. What fosters such self-centered mania?

I blame the internet! :badpc:

That's really funny! Last year we went on a Disney cruise/land vacation, and soon after so did a coworker of mine. Well, when she returned with wonderful stories of her trip, I was amazed as when her family was on the boat, Cinderella came to HER CABIN and read her girls a bedtime story every night! Then she tells me that it was not a big deal - all you have to do is ask at guest services. I must have been on a different boat - the one I was on had storytelling at the Imagineers Club, not in-room stories. LOL Sure, whatever.

snyderla, did you find out anything more about your co-workers trip?

your co-worker sounds like one of my neighbors . . . You can't tell her ANYTHING! She knows it ALL! . . . or so she thinks! Some people are just like that!

LOL - we must live by the same neighbor cause I have one here too! Can't tell her anything about WDW cause she knows it all - She told me that her DD had complete limo service on her honeymoon staying at a mod - I said oh cool she got to ride the limo from the airport to the hotel - "oh no that limo came and picked them up everyday and took them to the parks" - LOL - WHen I talked to the DD about her trip she said she loved the WDW bus service they had - LOL I had a good laugh over that one.

Are these people so filled with pride that they just can't admit they stayed a a VALUE resort??!! Gimme a break!

I had a friend once tell me that she was staying at one of those big convention hotels with her DH in Orlando. I can't remember which one, I think it was the Hyatt or something...........I remember looking it up on the internet and it was a beautiful, huge hotel. But what she was told was that the hotel was hooked up to the monorail. I didn't want to sound like a "know-it-all", so I just said....Are you sure?? (like I didn't know  ).....because, I said, only xxxxxx are one the monorail line (I listed all three of them for her). She said, I don't know where it is, I was just told that it was on the monorail.

Well, I left it at that and neither she nor I said anything when she got back. ;)

And we wonder why our children become liars. :rolleyes1 :rolleyes2

I spoke with her for a few minutes Friday and she said she has pictures that her TA gave her of the "Studio" at Pop. She said she showed them to the registration desk and was told "I don't know where those pictures came from, but we don't have any rooms like that at WDW". She also told me they had someone from concierge contact her, and that she is going to call Cindy in concierge if they go to WDW again. She said they had a wonderful time, but they will never stay at Pop again. I suppose if you were expecting a "King Studio with a whirlpool" a room at Pop might be disappointing. She is going to bring some photos in. I'd love to see the photos from the TA. Oh, yea...the TA she booked through was one in town here who goes to WDW 2-3 times per year. I'm pretty sure that my coworker just got REALLY confused when making her plans and thought the studio was at Pop. I still need to ask how the parasailing went. DH asked her husband what they thought of the fireworks, (they were there for 18 days!!!) he told DH that they only saw Illuminations, they were just too tired at the end of the night to stay for WISHES or Fantasmic. I just don't get it. 18 days and they couldn't see ANY fireworks but Illuminations...once.

I wonder if there was a picture of a room similar to what was seen on a TV commercial. That non-existant room looked like a value resort room, but with more Mickey like decorations, and you could see Cinderella Castle outside the window.

Don't remember how/when, but it was brought up on these boards that this type of room didn't exist, and it was a bit mis-leading in the advertising. Anybody remember that?

Oooh, I can't wait to hear about the pictures....

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
I love these boards!! I have enjoyed this thread.... Some of this sounds mighty familiar!! I had a friend once who refused to understand the difference between "inside" the world and "outside"... she thought all the transportation was the same, etc.... when she returned, all she said to me was that the next time she went, she would call me!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

the TA told her it would be "sweet" to stay at Pop . . . and she decided it was to be a "suite" . . . hehehehe

I work with someone who has done it all and seen it all . . . she drives me nuts!
