On the Jan. 17 Cruise the cast and crew (400 count) from ABC's sitcom 'Life According to Jim" will be on board the Magic filming an episode. It will be great to see our favorite people on board be intergrated into this funny show.

How fun it will be for those of you on this cruise.

We just came off of the Jan 3 sailing and I want to cry, cry, cry.

The service was wonderful, the weather was perfect and the trip was enjoyed by all.

I'll have a special post about Tommy our very special server later this week. He was great and even more fun to tease. You just wait....

We were pleased to obtain the recipe from the charming Marco in Palo for the Portobello Mushroom, I'll post that later too!

We are in route and stopped by my parents house in Orlando for a quick visit before our 6 hour journey home. I would like to go kicking and screaming but I'll try to compose myself and get ready for work, carpool, laundry and cooking with dignity and thanks for the trip that was had and that there are people out there that are dedicated to doing such a fine job in creating a true holiday and escape from the everyday life for their passengers.

On my honeymoon back in March '95 at the Wilderness Lodge, my wife and I watched bits of popular TV show being filmed in the hotel. Can't recall the name off hand, but it was the one that featured the nerdy kid named Erckel (sp?) whose catch phrase was "did I do that?"

I caught a few minutes of the whole affair on my camcorder but never did catch the episode on TV.

Family Matters was the name of the show.

400 crew!!!

We are on this cruise and can't wait!!

We are very excited about the opportunity to watch such a production. I know some people on this cruise are disappointed that the filming may disrupt their cruise but we are just considering it part of our adventure:jester:

I wonder if that means that getting spa/palo ressies will be easier?!?!

I can't believe we leave on Friday!!!:Pinkbounc :bounce:

Can't wait to read your report!! Hurry!!!

As excited as it sounds, I would NOT want to be on this cruise, and I hope the people who are, got a discounted rate.

Their cruise experience will be hindered. Anywhere/time they are taping, it will be blocked off and anyone not in the scene will need to stay back. I went to NYC and paid to get into the Madame Trusaad's Wax Musuem, and were told they were taping a special with Dan Rather. My friends and I were all excited that we would be a part of this, but, we did not get to see much at all. We were constantly be told to stand back, we were not allowed to go up the stairs. It was a PITA.

It may seem exciting that celebrities will be on the cruise, but, they are there to do a job. And the job they do can take a loooong time. Once I was a "sound" extra for a movie they were filming in Fenway Park. We were the fans. Not on camera, but they needed our cheers and yelling. The scene seemed pretty simple, the actors sat as is if they were paying attention to the baseball game, and then one actor was supposed to jump to his feet and yell NO as if he found out something about his girlfriend. After 2 and a half hours, he finally nailed the NO. LOL

If you are excited about being on the cruise, I am happy for you. Just be prepared to be limited to some parts of the ship.:(

Oh, I loved that show! Very lame, but at least it's a show you don't have to put a lot of thought into. I remember those WDW episodes!

We'll be on the 1/17 sailing and there is no discount offered.

I am not happy about the sitcom filming, think it could interfere with our enjoyment, relaxation etc. I hope I am wrong.

I trust Disney will make sure it is the best possible vacation for all involved. THose on this cruise please let us know how it went....... Good luck, I'm sure you will have a great time. Who knows you may even get or be able to do extra stuff because of it. Positive thinking can get you a looooooong way!!!

On our last cruise, June 21, 2003, there was a film crew on board for the week taping some sort of new recruitment video. My mom had to sign some kind of release form 'cause she was in a shot of the staterooms portion. They were never in the way but of course there's probably a lot of difference in celebrities cruising and just a film crew for informational purposes. Regardless, for the one's that are cruising while they are on board, I hope you guys have a great time.

with my luck they will get a close up shot of my fat butt at the pool, just as I am turning around to look at the camera.....

Too funny, jdmom!
We are also booked on this cruise... I am hoping that it will not be hindered too much. We will have fun regardless, I'm sure, but it would have been nice for Disney to inform the passengers about the taping BEFORE the 60 day mark. For us it wouldn't have made a difference because too much trouble to try to reschedule 4 different families in our party! I'm sure there are those who could have easily changed dates and would have preferred to do just that. Are you listening, Disney!?

I'm on the 1/17 cruise as well, and I'm hoping that the filming might make other things less crowded. If there really are 400 cast/crew, then 1 of every 6 passengers on board will be working. That could mean easier reservations at Palo/Spa/Hairbraiding etc. I would also expect the shows to be less crowded. Now the clubs at night might be packed to the rafters though. :smooth:

Also, there is probably a good chance they plan to shoot when the ship is less crowded (like during the Castaway Cay day). That could make the beach less crowded.

In either case, I'm sure it will be an interesting experience.
