Wednesday 25th November
We got up and had a coffee while watching the weather channel. Rain and thunderstorms forecast for most of the day; chance of rain 90%.
This trip we had to buy bottled water as the water in the resort tasted horrible even in coffee. We got a large bottle for about 80 cents so it wasn’t a hardship.
We decided not to go to Universal today, what was the point of getting soaked.:confused3
Instead we opted to go shopping. Now I know you are getting fed up with all this shopping, to be honest so were we, but we couldn’t think of much else to do in the pouring rain. We did also hit Downtown Disney so stick with us.
First we went to Jo Ann’s as they had a pre Black Friday sale so Theresa bought lots of scrapbooking stuff and Ghirardelli’s Peppermint bark. We both got some clothes in Marshalls which is right next door. Theresa got a pair of Levi jeans for $9. It was raining very hard when we came out so we jumped in the car to move across to the other side of the parking lot. We bought lots of weight watchers type food for when we have to go back on the diet at home. They have things you just don’t see over here, Special K Cinnamon & Pecan for example.

We had a break in Starbucks. Theresa had a Caramel Brulee Latte and I had a plain old cappuccino.

We drove up International Drive but we had under-estimated the holiday traffic. It was very, very busy and the heavy rain didn’t help.

It was lunch time by the time we arrived so we headed straight for Sweet Tomatoes.
I must first say I am a carnivore through and through; IMHO salad should be kept to one sprig of parsley on your T bone.;)

That said I didn’t come away hungry as they had jacket potatoes and a chicken pot pie. Theresa absolutely loved it. There were so many items on the salad buffet, she had a ball trying them; I was going to say all but there is no way she could possibly fit even a small taster of all the dishes in. The only thing she didn’t like was the noise level and all the coming and going back to the buffet. It doesn’t make for a restful meal. The bill came to $13 as Theresa had a BOGOF voucher she downloaded before we left home.

After lunch we headed for the Bad *** cafe. This is an internet cafe on I Drive. We checked our bank account balance and Theresa had a look to see if she had any e mails with vouchers for the Black Friday sales. She did have some but they were the same as the ones she had already picked up in store so she didn’t bother to print any off.

We headed to Downtown Disney at around 4.00 expecting it to be quiet at that time of day. It wasn’t, the place was packed! We walked over to the AMC Cinema and we were just in time for the 4.15 screening of The Christmas Carol in 3D. This was a really good film, we both really enjoyed it. The film was surprising so far as it was quite dark and scary. This film, I would say, was aimed at a younger audience but I think a few of the more sensitive ones will end up in tears. After the film we started to have a wander around downtown but it was heaving so we decided to come back next week when all the Thanksgiving crowds would have gone home.

We went back to the 192 and had dinner in Bob Evans. I had an appetiser for my main; three sliders of your choice from sausage, pulled pork & beef. I opted for one of each and they were all good. Theresa had a haddock sandwich followed by Pecan Pie. I had another of the appetisers for my dessert, apple fries with a dip, they were absolutely delicious. The bill came to $26 + tip.:goodvibes

When we got back to the condo Theresa freaked out a bit about the amount of shopping we have. :scared1: I said we were fine, there is still plenty of room, and we did have four cases!

Another great day... I love hearing about all your shopping :)

I would much rather shop than be out in those heavy Orlando downpours.

Tony & Theresa,
Have you added up the savings from all the bargains you found? Add that amount to what you saved buying things with dollars obtained with pounds at a favorable rate and I think it's possible that with the amount of shopping you did--and Black Friday hasn't even happened at this point in your report!--you might very well have a total that offsets the cost of the trip. Kevin Stringer needs to think about this--allow time in the itinerary for more shopping and pay for the trip!

Tony loving your report and pictures. I am amazed at your tolerance for shopping - I am going to try Susan's suggestion on Kev next time and see if he falls for it. :rotfl:Having said that even I don't like shopping that much!

Sounds like a really enjoyable holiday. Can't wait to read more.

It would only work if it didn't impede his beer time. :thumbsup2

Four cases is definately a must. It's a last night ritual for us to try (usually in vain) to fit everything in, last time we went we had to go buy a case that would fit on as hand luggage and even that was crammed to capacity! :L My hubby even threw away almost everything he had taken with him clothes wise, except a pair of shoes, and I think I had to throw out about half the clothes I took.

Cinnamon & pecan Special K??!! Cor, sounds yummy! DH is allergic to pecans tho so I'd have to smuggle it in!!

I'm enjoying seeing and hearing about places we've never been.

Shame you never got to Universal Studios because of the rain :headache:.
We saw Christmas Carol 3d,and Dd4 was pretty scared in some scenes so she ended up taking her glasses off.I was'nt expecting it to be as 'dark' either.x.

i never seem to find anything cheap in Orlando so never go shopping out there but then I love Primark!!!!

Love the food photos
