Friday 4th December

As per the weather forecast it was raining today.
This was a real shame as we’d planned to go to World of Citrus today.

This is a citrus farm north of the 192 junction on the 27; we’d passed it on our way to Silver Springs.
It was only a drizzle when we arrived at the farm and the nice lady in the shop said she’d put the coffee pot on for us while we went around the groves.

We set out off around the groves and fed the ducks on our way before the heavens opened.

We picked a few oranges to try and got a soaking in the process. We also saw some very large crane type birds walking through the grove. I asked if they were a problem with the fruit but apparently birds don’t like citrus. The farm’s biggest pest is raccoons.

When we got back to the shop the lady had been true to her word and we both had a hot coffee and a taste of some of the different oranges they do as well as several different honeys and jams. We bought a few small jars to bring home.

We went back to Barefootin’ for a shower and to get changed, ready for our lunch reservation at The Grand Floridian Cafe.

When we arrived there was a trailer parked outside the drop off point and we found a TV crew in the lobby. There was a choir singing and it turned out they were filming Disney’s Holiday Special.

It was all a big secret, even the staff didn’t know but the surprise guest turned out to be none other than Celine Dion. We got to hear her sing “Oh come all ye faithful “ several times as they had to do a few takes because of all the camera flashes.

For lunch we both had the Cheeseburger with lovely thick cut chips which were cooked to perfection. I think I may have had one that could have been a contender for the world’s longest chip.

We followed this with mini tiramisu for Theresa and Chocolate and hazelnut torte for me. We washed it all down with a couple of cappuccinos. We were so pleased that our holiday Disney dining had ended on a high note in more ways than one.:thumbsup2

After lunch it was still pouring so I collected the car and picked Theresa up from the foyer.

We decided to go to the movies.
One, it was raining so hard and, two, Theresa loves disaster movies (2012 was showing).
We both enjoyed the film and agreed it had everything a good disaster movie needs, even if it was a little too predictable.

After the movie we went back to Barefootin’ and packed the last of our stuff. We had to pack and re-pack, weigh and re-weigh; we actually broke our scales in the process.
We went into the reception area to do on-line check-in and the security guard let us use his terminal and print out our boarding cards for free.

We found all the staff here to be very friendly and would have no hesitation in recommending this resort.

Good trip, good trip reports, well done my good man. Needless to say the cocktail count was a little low for my liking, but I guess it takes all sorts!!

I've really enjoyed Reading your TR, what a shame it has come to an end! Loved the randomness of seeing Celine Dion, plus the massive chip of course. :goodvibes

The orange groves look like a nice place to visit. Amazing that by complete coincidence you got to see Celine Dion. And I had to laugh that you broke your scales with all the weighing!
