How is the T-Rex restaurant in Downtown Disney. Any reviews?

I took my 5 year old at the time, he loved it and I did too. The food was presented well, and it was delicious. The portions are like the dinosaurs,,,huge. The atmosphere was delightful. Kind of like being inside a Disney ride!

We ate there a few years ago and loved it. Awesome atmosphere (but very loud), good service and good food. Portions were huge! We easily could have ordered two adult meals and shared w/ my daughter to save money. If you have kids who are into dinosaurs, it's a must see!
I'm trying to decide now if we should go back to TRex or try Rainforest on our next trip.

We like it, especially my son. We've gone twice he was 5 and 6 at the time. Really fun atmosphere and the food is pretty good. Portions are huge. If you're going to be at DTD and planning a meal and have kids who like dinosaurs, then I'd say it's a must do.

very cool theme. The food was good, but our service was a bit slow. Its also very loud in there. They also have Build A Dino right there, but if you are waiting for a table don't allow your kids to build a dino. We went there and they told us it would be 15 minutes for our table. That was with our reservation. So I figured I would let my older son build a dino bc thats all he wanted to do. I told my husband to wait for our name to be called. He had a problem left and was gone for like 2 minutes to find me. In that 2 minutes they decided we weren't there and they gave our table away. Honestly even if we weren't at build a dino its so loud in there I don't know how anyone heres their name called. They didn't have a microphone to call peoples names. We did eventually get seated but we had to wait another 15 minutes for a table and then our service was slow. They should have a microphone in the place to call names or have those light up pager things. That would make seating people much more organized. But at least the theming was cool and the food was pretty good. We chalked it up to they were just having an off day when we went, lol.

Thank you everyone. We've been to the Rainforest Cafe several times but never the T-Rex. I'm assuming they are very similar except for the theme of course. I'm just hoping the food is good. My daughter told me we need to sit in the Ice Room. She said she was in the Fish Room once but liked the Ice Room better. I don't know if you can choose your section.

We plan t-Rex every year. It's the only ADR we go back to every year. It's just like the rainforest but I think the food is better. It's one of our favorites.

We really enjoyed the T-Rex. Two things to note based on things people have said. First, the food is serviceable. Just fine for family dining. But to be clear, you there for the experience more than the food. Again, though, in our opinion, the food was fine. Second, it is loud indeed, and if you have anyone prone to headaches be aware the lighting in the ice cave can bother some folks. My wife got a headache from the lighting, and I have read others have experienced this as well. Oh, and yes, you can request not to sit in a certain room if you wish.

Can you use the gift cards of Mccormick to eat there like at the Rainforest Cafe?

My husband and I weren't overly thrilled with it but our kids adored it. They are asking us to go again this trip. :D My husbands ribs were terrible but they allowed me to order a jumbo appitizer thing as my meal which was pretty good. I also loved the strawberry lemonade drink (non-alcoholic). I would say give it a try at least once.

This was probably one of my favorite meals of our trip. My youngest is Dino obsessed, my oldest has ASD and they both loved it. Our food was great, and desert was amazing (although we only had room for a bite or two, we were so full.)

Its one of our ADR's for June, I was worried about it..Its a bit pricey but I really think my family would love the theme of it...

I went for a business trip dinner (lol gotta love working in the early education industry!) and were seated in the ice room. It was a very cool atmosphere, however, every so often when the "meteor shower" comes it can get a little loud and scary in there for little ones; we had a 3 year old with us and it made her nervous when the meteor shower came (especially the first time). Food wasn't particularly memorable but it certainly wasn't bad. One nice thing since we had to wait for a little while to be seated with our huge party was that there is a "boneyard" area (similar to the one in Animal Kingdom) that kids can play in while waiting that's located through the gift shop.

We loved it. I don't believe you can choose your section, though. I think they just seat you where they have space. I'm a big dinosaur fan of T-Rex is a must-do for me every trip now. Our server was amazing and the food was good.

My family of 6 loves TRex! They love to look around and watch all the changes in the rooms. We have never had a problem with the service. The kids menu has quite a bit of choices, and the food is great. We always seem to pick more "bar food" (burgers, nachos, chicken). And it's a great excuse for me to get to Downtown and shop!

Thanks everyone for all the reviews. We will be going in August and we're really looking forward to it.

We love T-Rex. My DD is 7 and she doesn't care for Rainforest cafe but likes T-Rex. If you go to the gift shop and ask to join the Landry's Club it costs like $25 and allows you to get at the front of the line at any Landry's restaurant (including T-Rex, Rainforest, and a whole list of others around the US) this saved me from having to use an ADR. We just walk up and I present my card and we are moved to the top of the list! We will be going to Disney in May and T-Rex is going to be our first meal. I definitely recommend the Nacho appetizer and the Extinction Level Event (Chocolate and Ice Cream) for dessert. They are enough to fill 2 adults up but you can always order food and bring leftovers to your resort fridge if staying on site.
