I'm going with my 2yo, and it's just us the first night. I do have an AP so we can go anywhere, but I wondered about T-Rex because of the dinos. Anyone love/hate it? TIA

It's a very loud restaurant with 'strobe like' lighting (mainly in the 'ice' cave). Only you know if your 2yo can handle that type atmosphere. The lighting made us feel very 'weird' and gave us a nauseous feeling - the only way I know how to explain it. The food was not to our liking, so between that, and the strobe lighting, we won't be back.

Some children love it, so if your 2yo doesn't mind the loudness, I would try it for myself - everyone likes different restaurants! :goodvibes

By the way, have you been to Rainforest? They are very similar in food and loudness.

As mentioned above, it's loud with a lot going on. Kid's seem to enjoy that kind of place, but I'm not sure how your 2 year old would react. We had a pretty good meal there. I would go back if someone wanted to go, but otherwise, once was enough for me.

Not only enjoyed the atmosphere ( of course it's loud but your dining with dinosaurs lol ) but surprisingly good food and cocktails..

Went at my DS's request. Wasn't expecting much at all but since he wanted to go...

Ended up being very surprised at actually really good food. We have a Rainforest Cafe fairly local so have been a few times and we all felt this was just a step up. Also, I know it's always hit or miss, but the service we got there was the best we had all week at Disney!

Yes, very loud. VERY loud. But as long as you know that going in and aren't expecting a quiet, relaxing dinner, you'll be fine.

Thanks! My little guy is fine with loud noises, and actually fell asleep watching the fireworks at MK last month. I appreciate the feedback so far! It makes me feel like I might enjoy it as well, and I won't be just going for a gimmick with everything else will being a let down.

Glad to hear so many people saying the food is decent. DH and I are going to try it on our Nov. trip because we will have $25 in Landry's birthday rewards to use. We like Rainforest Cafe, but wanted to try something different this time.

We liked the food, too, but it was too loud for my kids (they were 5 and 3 on our last trip). Also, my 3 year old was genuinely freaked out by the dinosaurs, so it wasn't the most peaceful dining experience for us. I can see how some kids would enjoy it, though. If you think your little guy is up for it, it's worth a shot.

I went with a friend last year during Marathon Weekend. The food was good - I was nervous because something with Rainforest Cafe's (sister restaurant) seasonings or something doesn't sit well with my stomach, but they either don't use the same or I managed to avoid it. I would caution you if you have any allergies to specifically ask if something is cooked with or contains it. Disney-managed restaurants are in my experience hyper-vigilant about that. T-Rex not being Disney managed not so much. My friend is allergic to mushrooms and asked if the green beans were cooked with anything and told they were not (at any Disney-managed place in my experience that question would have triggered a question from the server about allergies - it did not at T-Rex). Turns out they were in fact cooked with mushrooms. Luckily she figured it out and stopped eating them and popped Benadryl before things got bad, but it could have been super serious if her allergy was more immediate reaction. The manager came over and was apologetic and gave us a little off our bill, but if I had food allergies (I do have a peanut sensitivity but that is easily enough avoided) I would be hesitant to eat there again based on that experience.

Love T-Rex, it's a must do for us for every visit. The mushroom ravioli is amazing! It is loud and crowded, but we enjoy the atmosphere.

Our four and six year olds loved it there, and honestly, the adults enjoyed it too! Even with reservations, though, it was a crazy wait, so be prepared. The food was good, I agree with the poster who said it is a step up from Rainforest Cafe, that's a good description.

We had a great meal there at Downtown Disney a few years ago. We ate at Rainforest as well, I felt the food was better at T Rex. Plus the gift shop is amazing for kids. They also have a cute excavation area where they can dig for dinosaur bones while they are waiting, very cute.

We liked it there, the chicken fried steak was especially yummy. Sign up for the Landrys Select club, you pay $25 but get an immediate $25 credit plus $25 each year for your birthday. Also get priority seating at T Rex, Yak nYeti, Rainforest, many others owned by Landrys. No ADR needed!

We ate at T-Rex in Dec. 2015 with a 7, 5, and 3 year old and they loved it (the 5 year old was a little freaked out by the Big T-Rex but she got over it). The Ice room is pretty cool and many of the smaller dinosaurs move and make noise in the rest of the restaurant. Our party of 9 had the seafood pasta, hamburgers, fish and chips, 1 kid had the kids shrimp platter and the other 2 had mac n cheese. Everyone liked their food and the only thing I would not recommend was the chicken with avocado sandwich (mine).

we went with my dino-obsessed 3 year old and it was too intense for him. it was kind of a disaster, TBH, and we never went back. So loud. So much going on. Not for us.

T-Rex is my absolute favorite restaurant on property. It isn't anything above a cooler Rainforest Cafe, but it's our tradition to eat there on arrival day and it's a tradition I don't see myself breaking anytime soon. We always have so much fun there and have had great service. Food was just okay, but it wasn't bad, and we'll certainly be going back!

We love the food at TRex actually...and we really enjoy the atmosphere! its pretty neat! one suggestion is maybe dont sit inside the iceroom. Every few minutes a dinosaur roars....the ice cave changes colors too. its really cool...and your 2 yr old might be ok with it. But just to be safe, maybe get a table on the outside of the cave. You can find videos on youtube :)
