I know these 2 are run by the same company, do you think that T-rex is going to be like Rainforest. I find it very noisy has anyone ever been to the one in Kansas City?????? Would love to try it this trip

Not sure, but I do not think they are run by the same company. As I understand it, the man who created Rainforest Cafe sold it to the Landry's restaurant group, who owns it now. Then he went off on his own and started T-Rex restaurants.

We have eaten at the KC one, and the food there is VERY good, MUCH better than Rainforest. Loved the dinos and the whole theme. Would recommend totally!

The T-Rex website reads "Copyright 2006, Landry's Restaurants Inc." so it looks like they own T-Rex, too.

T Rex is very noisy but very cool. I live about 30 minutes from the KC one and it is a treat to go there, it is a bit pricey.

Yes Rain Forest Cafe and TREX are both owned and operated by Landry's ! We were just at Rainforest last week and I was reading the brochure for the rainforest club for priority seating etc,,, It did indeed mention that it could be used at TREX as it is a landry's family restaurant! Just thought I would mention it!:thumbsup2

Does anyone know when this might have a soft opening?

They are run by the same company. My guess would be that if you don't like Rainforest Cafe because of the noise, *stay away* from T-Rex. It will have roaring dinosaurs, and I believe "meteor shower" noise.

Personally, I can't wait :) But I like RC also

Hey everyone! We'll be in town Oct. 9-13th, so I looked up T-Rex's website & emailed them about when their opening would be. I got this response. Hope it helps w' your planning!

"Thank you for your inquiry into the new T-REX Orlando! At this time our restaurant is scheduled to open in mid October of 2008 (right now the construction schedule looks like somewhere towards the end of the 3rd week in October but this could change). We will be on a walk-in basis only until 2009 and a date for accepting reservations has not been determined yet. You may keep checking our website at anytime for updates on our opening. If you are in the Disney area and are looking for a WILD time, call one of our Rainforest Café properties for a priority seating. We have one located at the entrance to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park which you can reach at 407-938-9100 and one at Downtown Disney Marketplace (a block away from our new T-Rex site) which can be reached at 407-827-8500.

Thank you again for your e-mail and we look forward to your visit!"
