Which would you pick between T-REX and Coral Reef? DD will be 9 on the upcoming trip and she likes both dinosaurs and ocean critters. We'll be paying out of pocket.

Wow, everyone's replies surprise me! I would say Coral Reef, no question. But I feel like this is trying to choose between TGI Fridays and (I am trying to think of a chain fine dining restaurant and all the fine dining ones I can come up with are local...is Bravo! Cucina Italiana a chain??) T-Rex was cool. The night we went was our first night at WDW and my kids were TIRED so they just didn't love it. The food was fine...decent chain restaurant food. But SUPER expensive for a burger or a sandwich (I know...all food is expensive at Disney. Maybe it was because we were on the meal plan and we had to pay out of pocket for this experience). There is an incredible amount of stimulation at this restaurant (like Rainforest Cafe)...constant noise, lights and motion.

Coral Reef has been a favorite of my family since we started going there when it opened...may years ago (like about 30 years!). I just got to take my own kids for the first time 18 months ago. The food has always been wonderful. The atmosphere is much more calm, it's darker, quieter.

So, I think you have to know your family. If you are going for a sensory experience, T-Rex. If you are going for a nicer meal or your family enjoys fine dining...Coral Reef.

And, btw, their creme brulee is amazing!! ;)

No matter what you pick, I hope you enjoy!

Agree with this 100%!:thumbsup2

Thanks for all the replies, looks like we'll be hitting T-REX on this next trip and we'll save Coral Reef for the future. On the last trip DD built a dino and I'm sure we'll have to do that again.

T-Rex. Absolutely no question.

Could not agree more! T-Rex is a must do for us each trip. Large menu, big portions and decent prices.

Coral Reef is one of our least favorite restaurants in or out of WDW. Terrible service, small menu, expensive and terrible food.

We really like both! I would choose the most convienient place. If you want to go to DTD for shopping etc then go for Trex. Make an evening out of it!

I personally am glad to hear all the good feedback for T-Rex! We haven't done it yet and I am excited to try it. We are a burger and fries type of family. We did coral reef on our last trip and while it was a great atmosphere I wasn't thrilled with the menu. The steak was really good and I am not a big seafood eater so I think I would prefer the menu at T-Rex. My brother and his wife had the mahi at coral reef and loved it!! :thumbsup2

I have only been to Coral Reef once and was not impressed with the service or food. Although T Rex has more of a "chain" feel, the food and service were outstanding in comparison.

On second thought I think we'll try both! Upon arriving home tonight there was a PIN code offer in the mail for a room only discount. The savings will cover a big part of the regular dining plan so we booked it. Now I get to figure out more ADR's as well - some new, some old favorites. Thanks again for all the info.

Yay for you!!! Enjoy! Was your pin code for fall??

The PIN code covers lots of Jan-Mar, Apr-May, and the night range of 8/11 through 9/28 that covers our trip. A few weeks ago I ordered the 2013 DVD and saved some offers so I'm sure that helped.
